My guess is that he’ll get many offers in free agency & many teams are willing to overpay him. However if i’d have a crystal ball i’d predict that he’ll end up staying in Florida for considerably less money than he could get elsewhere. Why less money? The Panthers don’t have a lot of room to play with considering they have other free agents they’d like to re-sign such as Aaron Ekblad & possibly Brad Marchand, among others. Bennett has found the perfect team & perfect location to play hockey & he knows it. Leaving for big dollars would also complicate things for him since fans would likely complain about his inability to produce & play the style of hockey he’s known for in the playoffs during the regular season. He’s always been the total opposite during the regular season. Paying huge dollars on a 7-year contract elsewhere would likely annoy that team’s fan base.
