It’s pretty fucked up that you can travel internationally by providing a same day negative covid test, but you won’t be able to go catch a movie...

Lol. What a world

It is crazy. However passports are in their infancy. There is no reason they can't extend a passport to include a negative test. For example get a test and your passport is valid for 7 days (completely made up).

I suspect they are going to have to do this to overcome legal challenges anyways. The big question is who will pay for the tests.

The question is... how long this nonsense will last? A year? More?

When they put that mask mandate i never taught it would go longer than a few months, maybe whole winter at worst but thats it. 1 year and a month later we still have it... wich is crazy to me. So how long this passeport thing will last? 1 year seem like probably the minimum but will it still be in action in 3 years when this virus has become part of normal life. Will we still be banned from everywhere forever? Thats the scary part in my opinion, ESPECIALLY if in 3 years there is barely any Covid and the few that there are simply are case of bad flu.

I know that for Travel its likely a life thing, because countries are more carefull about who they let enter but when it comes to domestic, i do hope we are not gonna have to do this forever. Over the concept of forcing peoples to vaccine, this is a very intrusive thing.

That said, i read that by 2025 they want to have everybody have some kind of block chain identity where they would be scanned for many things like bank accounts etc

Identité numérique pour chaque Québécois: le plus gros chantier informatique de l’histoire | JDQ (journaldequebec.com)

So could very well be that this passeport thing is simply the first step of this. And after that they call us "conspiracy theorist" when its actual reality.

That is very simple. As long as there is a risk of overwhelming health care systems, restrictions will exist. Something has to slow it down. Masks and others are speed bumps, they slow down, they don't stop. As long as the virus is extremely transmissible and somewhat dangerous when caught, there will be restrictions.
Where I label you a little off tilt is when people say the government is doing this to show control.

Technology that eliminates fiscal fraud, voter fraud, efficiency in the health care systems....to me is a good thing. If you think this is wha is going to track you, you may want to take a look at other mechanisms out there today. Forget your phone and cash, you may want to remove your pictures from FB and Inst, because it's well know they are feeding facial recognition systems. You may want to wear a fake beard and sunglasses as you pass the hundreds of cameras that film you each day.

willl massage parlours be asked to check for vaccine passport?
It was not on the lists presented.

The major ones are resto, bars, gyms, theatre, cinemas, some festivals, some sports

One that wasn't there was hairdressers/barbers. The full list should be on the gov site

Edit, here is the full list. Massage not required

The idea behind is not controlling people. It is to ensure freedom to the vast majority of vaccinated Quebecers who are kept as hostage buy a minority anti-vaccination.
It's done via the applications to ensure that non essential activities of high risk are accessible to vaccinated (and some others) people in the maximum possible security.
The risk is impacted by the quantity of people you may interact within a single space. In a hair dresser salon, there are not a lot of people by square feet. The same applies to massotherapy or look alike...
Others measures stays on for the moment (mask and distanciation when possible). Mind you, a 100% vaccinated people environment doesn't mean a COVID proof space, as those people might still be contagious or might get the virus. But you put all the odds on your side staying relatively healthy and not requesting medical help nor dying...

As the Ontario's authorities do not really want to take the lead to enhance and promote vaccination, the private sector takes it. Ontario's chamber of commerce released a framework Tuesday for private sector businesses seeking to develop COVID-19 proof-of-vaccination protocols, a move it said aimed to provide support in the absence of government guidance. The organization – which represents more than 150 chambers of commerce and boards of trade in the province said implementing proof-of-vaccination would help businesses safely reopen and mitigate the risk of further lockdowns. It is somewhat annoying seeing the private sector in Ontario being more progressive than the conservatives in place... But it is just common sens! They live within the real life.

I got this part for us Americans on the Twitter:

“To enter spaces subject to the vaccine passport program, out-of-province and international visitors will be able to show proof of vaccination from their governments along with proof of address, the Health Ministry said.”

l don’t know how you can say that the idea not to control people when they are actually gonna control everybody every time you enter a place.
The bottom line is that it’s probably not gonna have any positive effect on the actual pandemic, it’s 100% meant to gain more access and control in people’s life.

The idea is to avoid punishing the vaccinated majority because of the unvaccinated minority. Indeed, why go through another lockdown and force business owners to close because Karen and her friends refuse to get vaccinated? Let the vaccinated get on with their lives, there's no reason for them not to.

It also creates an incentive for people to get vaccinated, which hopefully will bring us closer to the end of this pandemic.

It is just checking if you are vaccinated or not. The establishment will get a red or green signal. On green, they will see your name, birthday date and the vaccine used. They then check with a card identifying you with a picture ( Carte Assurance maladie, permis de conduire ou autre). If everything is OK, you get in. You can call it control, I call it managing. No datas are saved from the app. Presently you should give your name and phone number to be reached in case there is a positive case. That is over. No personal infos are kept by the establishment nor the government. It is similar to the obligation for a young guy or girl to show an id to prove is age when buying alcool. We live in society, there are rules to respect. In counterpart, the society will pay your health care. You can't have the butter and the money from the butter. One can not have it both way.

Good question indeed....or you go with it and doing so you will b very helpful to your community and have a normal life:)....OR you accept to stay home using only essential services....could b boring on a long term ;) .

Note...if i remember well for you FDA approval was very important......done for Pfizer and Moderna will follow soon.

Well next time you are going for meatball, don’t forget that you might be serve by a disgusting unvaccinnated person without covid or even worst a flawless vaccinnated person with covid.
It is a fact, even vaccinnated people can catch and spread covid so what’s the purpose of the passport?
Free and fast covid testing is the way to go, that way you make sure that covid positive person (vaxx or not) are not in contact with others.
