A trump re-election would end American democracy and America would become an authoritarian state like Russia or Hungary or worse. Because of their radicalization and transformation into a cult of personality, Republicans would rule with an iron fist, destroy any opposition, and never relinquish power.

A properly functioning free press and judicial system along with informed, reasonable voters can prevent this political apocalypse.

Trump received 46.2% of the vote in 2016 and won and 46.8% of the vote in 2020 and lost. I think if he's on the ballot in 2024 he'll get 45% or under because, while MAGA Republicans have hardened their support, he is losing support from Independents and the few remaining principled Republicans. I don't think a candidate can win with 45% or less of the popular vote. However, anything is possible because of the Electoral College that favors Republicans because it gives added weight to small rural red states.

The only way the traitor will win is if the corrupt GOP succeeds in its unlawful removal of the legitimate voting rights of American citizens. It has long attempted corrupt gerrymandering, re-districting and passage of numerous fascistic laws aimed at preventing young people and people of color from voting.

Also keeping the trial in Georgia state court eliminates the possibility of a federal pardon by a republican president. And a trial in Georgia will be televised. That's something that the defendants don't want the world to see..
