Have been a Red Sox fan since I was 6 or 7, I immediately recognize when someone is trying to squeeze every bit of glory out of a single game when all else is beyond reach. So enjoy.

You've only been a fan of the Red Sox for the past 10 years? I'm surprised, i thought you had been a fan all your life. ;)

The problem with the Jays this year was the fact they hired a new batting instructor (Gary Denbo) with a brand new hitting philosophy which fucked up the hitting until he got fired along with John Gibbons a couple of months ago. Then, some of the starters got injured....McGowan, Marcum, etc. Scott Rolen & David Eckstein were busts. When they finally benched Eckstein & replaced him with defensive whiz John McDonald, they played much better. Rolen has been playing with a bad shoulder all season long & he couldn't hit with power. The Frank Thomas debacle was handled poorly. They decided to make him a part time player after only 1 month into the season....he asked for his release, which was granted...and now, they're paying him to play for the A's. Signing Shannon Stewart was another mistake. They've since released him. Aaron Hill, their 2nd baseman, has been injured for the most part of the year with concussion problems (he got into a collision with that fuckin' idiot Eckstein) and not having Janssen for the whole season (due to arm surgery) hasn't helped.

All in all, they had a good year considering the circumstances. They play in the toughest division in all of baseball & it won't get any easier in the coming years.

I'm pulling for the Rays to win the division & hope one of the teams in the central gets the wildcard. I"m sick of the Yankees & Red Sox, to be honest. It's time for some new blood.

Hello Doc,

My sympathies are for the Cubs if the Sox don't make it. No Series championship for 100 years...those poor bastards.

Damn,

Hello Sports Fans,

The Red Sox beat the Tankees 11-3 last night at NY. Well, I love it, but it's just one game. However, it practically insures that the Tankees will set a new mark for ultimate failure. This could be the first $200,000,000 team to not even make the playoffs in baseball history. It's a new low and a standard likely to stand for a long time. Goes to show...a lot of money does not a "TEAM" make....right Joe.t!

Congrats NY,

Korbel

Yet another proposition for Joe T.

Hey, Joe T., do you think that it is too late for the Yankees to apply to transfer to the NL West division this season?

Seriously, all they have to do is go 20-7 (Who needs pitching?) with the Red Sox dropping to 12-13 for the remaining games for you to tie your bet.

If you are willing to concede your bet with me before the Wankees are mathematically eliminated from overtaking the Red Sox, I will allow you the opportunity to lose more money on your Patriots prognostication.

What about the Tigers

Look at all the yankee-like money that the Detroit Tigers spent and look at the results. Most of the move Dombrowski made blew up in his face.

Yankees suck? How about the Tigers? They suck.

Hello Anon,

Joe.t has gone with Kevin Hench to a secluded mountain top in Nepal to seek out spiritual guidance from the Dalai Lama and pray to the ghost of Mickey Mantle for solace.

Bye Joey,

Hello Robert21,

Yes the Sox have done well and have a decent lead for the wild card spot if they don't win the division.

Now the question...WHERE IS JOE.T?????

Cheers,

Korbel

The Jays seem to be enjoying the role of spoilers. First the Stankees, then the Twinkies, and now the Rays. The Rays will face the Sox & Stankies once they've left Toronto & it looks like this tough road trip will do them in & they'll likely be fighting for the wild card in 2 weeks or so.

One quick point...BJ Ryan sucks this season!!

Yeah, but he's coming off Tommy John surgery. It usually takes pitchers 2 seasons to recover. Some say he came back too fast, having missed only last season.

Francisco Liriano of the Twins has certainly recovered very well from his season ending TJ surgery last year.

True, but Francisco Liriano is Francisco Liriano. MOST major league pitchers only find back their groove after 2 seasons following surgery.

BJ hasn't pitched as badly as people suspect.....he'll likely finish the season with over 30 saves and an ERA of under 3. But i'll admit he's not the BJ of old....his velocity is slightly down & he's got problems controlling his breaking ball. Most knowledgeable Jays fans figure that as of now, two other lefthanders, Scott Downs & Scott Carlson, are more effective closers than Ryan.

LOVE THOSE JAYS.......

Zaun's walk-off slam sinks Rays in 13th

TORONTO -- Gregg Zaun delivered a walk-off grand slam to send the Blue Jays to a 7-4 victory over the Rays in 13 innings on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre. The win overcame a late collapse and extended Toronto's winning streak to seven games -- the longest run by the club since winning seven in a row from Sept. 22-29, 2002.
In the bottom of the 13th, after Tampa Bay grabbed a 4-3 lead in the top half of the frame, Vernon Wells and Brad Wilkerson came through with consecutive one-out singles against Rays closer Troy Percival. Following a two-out walk to Scott Rolen that loaded the bases, Zaun drilled the first pitch he saw from Percival deep to right for a grand slam.

********************************************************************

The Red Sox are currently 2 Games behind the 1st place RAYS....
The Sox play @ Texas tonight, first pitch 8:05 p.m.
Tim Wakefield will pitch his 500th game for the Red Sox tonight.

with the Red Sox playing the Rays next week, perhaps by next weekend, the Sox will be in 1st place!

I like your Thinking......

YES, the Red Sox will host the Rays for 3 Games starting tomorrow. Then next Monday 9/15th the Sox will travel to Tampa for 3 Games.

The Rays will host the Spankees for 3 Games next Friday 9/12th.
They will conclude their home stand vs the Twins with 4 Games on Thursday 9/18th.
Then they finish the reg. season going to Baltimore to play 4 Games, then off to Detroit for 4 Games......
