Suggestion: Members should pay upfront

I just had a long discussion on this. I realize that what I did with Judy Star leaves the door open for abuse so I am going to ask all agency owners to demand the money upfront from all clients.

Let me explain. I use to always pay right away with a tip. I hated exchanging money - it was and still is the worst part of the encounter. It reminds me that this is a financial transaction. I use to pay right away to get it over with.

Then, some guys here were razzing me for paying upfront with a tip claiming that I was a sucker. An SP even told me that my profile was that I am way too nice. I started rethinking my policy of always tipping and paying upfront.

Now, the truth is when I call agencies, they know me as GG and they know I will not stiff them. But this is not guaranteed with any John that ladies meet. If a guy does not pay upfront, the lady is responsible for the money. Nobody is going to come after the asshole who felt like not paying.

I realize that the risk of paying upfront is that I will not get as good a service. I am willing to live with this. The risk that the ladies go through is a lot bigger. Any asshole can pull a fast one on them. This was what Anik was trying to tell me in her post (wish she did it privately and not publicly )

This is why I now ask all agencies to enforce the rule that all money must be paid before the lady makes the phone call to the agency to say it's alright. I will start doing this myself. I do not want any asshole to abuse any lady by witholding the money and leaving without paying.

Rule? What rule? A rule that GG just made up on the spur of the moment for the entire Montreal provider and client community?

GG, you make some valuable contributions to MERB, but you negate them with posts like this one where you pretend to know what is best for a large, diverse group of individuals and businesses. If you want to pay up front from now on, fine, go ahead and do so. But don't suggest that the rest of us should follow your lead.

The escort business has been around a long time in Montreal and it has its own set of unwritten, generally accepted rules that have evolved on their own over a long time. Thank you for your suggestion. For myself, I cannot imagine paying upfront, and I will never do so. I also don't pay my accountant, hairdresser or plumber up front.

What if, after taking the money, she wants to go downstairs to "pay the driver"? Are you going to let her walk out with your cash? Are you going to try to get your money back?

Paying up front can only lead to scams and nasty confrontations.

You're assuming that clients always pay. How do you know? What is a lady going to do if someone refuses to pay her? What is the agency going to do? Call the gumbas?

I am not so convinced about this assertion. A scam should always be exposed here. But a customer who splits without paying can do this a lot and suffer no repercussions.

GG, the only thing I'm assuming is that each indvidual, whether agency owner, escort or client, knows what is best for himself or herself. Anyone can make a rule that suits his or her own indvidual needs. We don't need General Gonad making new rules for everyone.

Although I can see the spirit is in the rigth place I just do not think that the proposal will:

Should anyone stiffing a SP be punished for his misdeed? Sure, off course. Are we all going to get on board and start using the GG rule number 1 of hoobing and even more importantly will this work to keep assholes from stiffing girls somehow? No.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but most sentient individuals realize that they are not always right and they do not have the authority to impose their every whim or latest brainstorm on the rest of mankind. Guys, I get that GG has that tone of "I know more then GOD" but read what he's saying and remember it's GG that wrote it. It's not that he's trying to impose a rule but more suggest one a la GG. Of course when GG says it, it comes out like a boat load of crap oozing with antagonizing obnoxious overtones.

Remember that the intentions are good and he's genially concerned for the ladies. If he would have phrased it as "do you guys think we should have this unspoken rule?" this thread would be very different.

I think we all like to jump on the bash GG band wagon and I for one don't agree. This board just wouldn't be the same with out him. Oh crap now I'm a sap.

To me, it's very simple. The envelope is always there, in plain sight. She never takes it upon coming in, never mentions it, and often, to my surprise, she doesn't even count it. I've never stiffed anyone and it's never been a point of discussion. I think that enough of these women are a good judge of character and know when to insist for money up front. It's an unenforceable rule anyway.

I'm with you on this one. This "rule" may be well intentioned but not really very practical. There are some risks in life which just have to be accepted. There are some contingencies, however. Some agencies may be able, at times, to successfully blacklist such clients who stiff the sp. And reviews on this board can work to shorten the career of any sp who pulls a stunt on the client. It's not perfect but it helps. In any event, as you say, for the most part these occurrences are more the exception than the rule.

Having exchanged privately with GG on various issues, I think you're right. GG's style unfortunately attrack those who like to put oil on flames.

As for the thread's subject, I wasn't planning on responding as I feel this is a really a non-issue. To me, the minute you accept a SP, payment is due whatever unfold or not during the rest of the encounter. Paying upfront or at the end doesn't change anything from my perspective.

But I've seen very few SPs who have seek payment upfront in recent years, at least in Montreal. Like Doingittothedeath, I always have an enveloppe in plain sight with the agreed-upon donation but most SPs I've met don't ask or look for payment until the end of the encounter. I've even seen many getting ready to leave without the enveloppe.
