Stone Crab and Snow Crab compared, analyzed:
Executive summary is that the Snow Crab is essentially the "poor man's Crab", while the more expensive Stone Crab is more of a luxury item. It's all about what taste profile you favor and what you are willing to pay for your seafood.

Me personally I take Stone Crab fresh any day of the week and am not scared off by the price.

I am not sure though where you the "poor man's crab" summary lol

For me each type of crabs have their own specific.

Like in Hong Kong around autumn, they eat the Chinese hairy crab. They are not big or meaty but they are eaten for their rich, creamy, and buttery yellow "inside" (roe and fat/tomalley) which are abundant and a specific for that crab.

How many times did that article and almost any other you can find comparing Snow Crab to King or Stone mention their "affordable" price point. No offense but I don't think you read between the lines. I have only read it about 20 times in scanning articles on this subject tonight, plus I know my seafood store and restaurant pricing, so I put 2 and 2 together.

It is indeed the poor Man's crab.
