Hotel Suggestions?

I'll be up visiting in a few weeks and I was looking for suggestions on hotels in dowtown Montreal that don't mind guest visitors, and that provide parking. I don't mind hearing from SP's as to where their preferences/recommedations as well. Also do any of the hotels have jacuzzis. Thank you!

Bid on the 3.5 stars on Priceline. You will likely get the Hyatt or the Embassy Suites. Start your bidding at $50 and go up in increments of $4. You will probably get a hit within your first few bids.

Place D'Armes, Nelligan, Lowes

These tend to be more pricey hotels, but they all have rooms with a Jacuzzi... and they all provide parking for a fee. I had a very large jacuzzi at Place D'Armes and the Nelligan but that was in a suite. I am not sure about the other rooms.

I think that Lowes requires a key card to get upstairs whereas Nelligan does not.
I didn't need a key card at Place D'Armes but I'm not sure if that is true for all their rooms.

I was bidding for 3 1/5 stars for September also: started from $64 and went up to $79, but the bid is still declined... How did you manage to get $55? Did they ran out of rooms already?

I have no idea what you are doing wrong, other than possibly bidding on Labor Day weekend when rates are higher than normal. You put up a post without specific dates so it is really not helpful and your question is not going to be answered.

There may be a concert, a convention, or a festival involved on the days you are bidding,on, which would reduce inventory. Try changing your dates if you can.

Or maybe he's bidding on the weekend of the NASCAR race, which is in less than 3 weeks. I've noticed hotel rates are higher at around that time.

i just bid on hyatt the day before yesterday for the next days stay and got it for 65plus tax ...... you cant go wrong with the hyatt for that price or even a little higher.... i checked the rates on their website and they wanted $179 for the same day if i booked direct

not sure the current rate as of today but there is an outdoor lot across the street thats cheaper by a few dollars

I try to avoid the Hyatt during the summer months. I hate the area.

I used to love this hotel and the area. The Hyatt has a great deal to offer and the area is a short walk from a visit with local friends.

However, since they started tearing up the surrounding area it's a nightmare to get around. The traffic set-up used to be great, now you have to bounce off endless detours to find your way, and they tear up more and more with time making the situation worse and worse. North to south isn't so bad, but east to west along Ste. Catherine, Maissoneuve, John Kennedy sucks between University and almost to St Denis. That's how it was last April.

I recently bid $71 on a 3-star. It was rejected. If someone is getting in the 4-star Hyatt for $65 either the hotel is out of touch with what others are charging or they are losing busniess because of the crappy local conditions. For me it's not so bad since I can easily walk from there to where I want to be in a short time. Others are probably looking elsewhere because of current conditions.

BTW...I just saw someone bidding $131 on Bidding for Travel for the 3-star Best Western. Must not have heard of Priceline. On Expedia that's pretty much what they're asking anyway.

That's the Quebec City location though. Either way, it's probably still too much.

I've had lots of success using www.hotwire.com

I like staying at the Hyatt, especially because of its breakfast buffett.

I've also gotten very good rates through hotwire for Le Westin and Hotel Omni.

Doc Holiday -- I stayed there last November, the traffic was already bad. I was taking a stroll along the area in March and felt the detours and traffic was like being in Bagdad. Driving around the area was even worse.

Le Westin is a great place to stay, if you can get a good deal. Otherwise, it's on the pricy side. The free in room Wi-Fi is a very nice amenity. The showers are huge and the beddings are very high quality.
