Just got emails saying they might be reopening MMA gyms in a couple weeks. Haven't seen anything yet in the news, I wonder where they get this information from

Gym reopening Febuary 14 so another half month to go

Based on this, the vax tax is abandonned

François Legault recule sur la «contribution santé» (msn.com)

I assume Legault didn't wanted to fight for it as most everybody disagreed with it.

Now i hope the freedom convoys help eventually drop the dreaded vax pass.

that's good to hear! i wasn't gonna come back to MTL until mma gyms were open again, as my last trip was pretty damn boring. i hear the children classes actually reopen today

they really can't shut down gyms again. 1 of my favorite private gyms closed down and won't be reopening. shame

I went to a coffee shop today

Finally things are open.

I just hope we don't go into another lockdown. Getting tired of lockdowns and covid.

I saw a lot of restaurants said they REALLY hope it was the last one. Im assuming Gym said the same. At this point the shutdowns are useless and most peoples realize it. I would think if Legault shut down stuff again, there is gonna be MAJOR protest to a level we never seen. At this point stuff should go better with Spring then summer, the real test will be next Winter...

laughing now at "Clown World" ban on dancing.
Government will give the citizens the right to "dance" at a later date!!??
Smiling that clubs may reopen.
Feb 28 is a Monday so should be a Blast at "Crazy Moon".
Countdown is on.
Conditions probably will be shut up, sit down, don't move, and drink your beer hehe

"Quebec’s bars, shut down for much of the pandemic, will be permitted to reopen on Feb. 28 under certain conditions including a ban on dancing, according to the report."

I don’t blame the government and power hungry politicians. I really don’t. They’re too stupid, corrupt and morally bankrupt to even understand.

I blame the people for voting for these clowns and their willingness to be dominated by these fools, especially many younger folks who will protest everything except their right not to be slapped around.

I would charge the hospitalization costs to the non-vaccinated. It's very expensive.
Covid could attack a person who is unvaccinated because they are immunocompromised or some other reason outside their control.
It could be difficult to prove to a legal degree of certainty that an infection is definitely due to being unvaxxed.
The long fight by firefighters to get coverage for work related illness is a good example. They breathe toxic fumes in a very dangerous environment but it took decades to get Worker Comp for lung cancer.
It would also add to our ridiculous court backlogs.

Ban on dancing?
Wasn't that the plot of the movie Footloose?
Yep, it's a clown world alright.
Thank God I was young in the 80's and 90's and got to enjoy myself.

You have really hit on something. It's amazing that some young people will foam at the mouth and scream in the streets against Trump or a cop shooting some criminal but will submit to lockdowns restricting their freedom of movement. AND will call those protesting to have our freedom back racists and homophobes.
Welcome to Clown World.

When you step back and look at the acquiescence, particularly among the 20- and 30-somethings, as well as college students, it really is an eye-opener.

They’ve been programmed to become government doormats and ordered to virtue signal in the streets and raise a ruckus over the government’s political enemies. Real life is becoming stranger than fiction.

I’m not that old, but I guarantee my generation would have said “we’re not staying in past 10pm” and “I’m getting the vaccine because I want the vaccine, not because some corrupt, dotard politician, who exempted himself, is telling me to so I can freely go out and about.”

I really don’t think there is any coming back from this. The re-programming has been done. Hope I’m wrong.

Yes there's something wrong when a 50-something Republican like me is the rebel and a 20-something is the prudish, preachy uptight one who wants to obey everything the government says and follow the media narrative.
Strange days, indeed.
Yes the Covid Youth thing thinking that this should be the new normal is pretty scary.

My personal experience, my friends and almost 90 percent of my clients are in favor of the protests. I know the polls are saying only 30 percent of Canadians are, but these are also the same ones that painted them as the fringe minority.
Imagine from a fringe minority to the one third in just few weeks.

That same media was feeding us the news regarding the pandemic, the virus, the solutions, etc.. Time is the enemy of lies, and with time, people are realizing that something is wrong with what we have been fed as information. Lots of contradictions in explanations, and regulations versus reality. Most of the people had a direct experience with the Virus by now (either directly or through others). Unfortunately, while some had horrific ones, most of the others, their experiences were not so scary.

The media just focused on the scary ones, and painted (voluntarily or not) the whole scene like a Zombie movie. Fear was always the main theme, and they kept feeding it to us on many levels: Your health, your elders, crash of hospitals, longue term effect, etc. Amid all this fear campaign, they claimed the solution, and pushed it through punishing those that refused it. It is hard to rebel when you do not really see clearly what is correct and what is not. One of the biggest success they had achieved, was mixing the Anti Mandates and Anti Vaccination. While you can be both, but you can also be with Vaccination and anti Mandate. I am Anti Mandate, and I believe that people at risk should be Vaccinated. To this Government, I will be considered anti Vaccination (or conspiracist)

This winter, their solution was tested, and their solution has failed. The Vaccine's objectives regressed from stopping the Pandemic, to just reducing your risks of getting "very sick and hospitalized". However, the measures that were used to stop or control the Pandemic were kept, instead of being removed. Trudeau keeps saying our way out of the Pandemic is getting Vaccinated. What does that really mean? Our way out? If we all get Vaccinated, will COVID with all of it variants stop from spreading? The Clear Answer is NO. He needs to redefine the "way out". A new theory is now emerging, the ones the British have decided to go with, and more countries are following, and it is "Living with COVID".

The Convoy protest is the first, and it will not be the last if this continues. What this action has demonstrated is that people have a memory. You cannot claim something, and then just switch it. Until just recently, my hopes were really low, but I think that people just needed time. The convoy has broken that Fear of coming forward. More and more Politicians are taking that fight. At least, at this stage, the abuse is not going to increase, and hopefully, all this will become a thing of the past very soon.

I don’t think we know the same people. There are more and more 20 something kids who want change in this rigid approach to the covid crisis. But eventually cooler head will prevail and things will loosen up. The chsld crisis really hit the gouvernement hard and they try to blame the virus for everything when most of the blame should go to over centralized control of the health system. Making it unmanageable.

The head of the public health, Boileau, beside not knowing how to lower the volume on a computer, couldn't even give a proper reason why to keep the pass. I understand why they want to keep the mask. I would personally be totally ok if they said "public transports, hospitals" mais maybe even bars when they reopen. But at this point it makes no sense to keep it in stores. That said alright, there is AT LEAST a reason being it and despite its annoying nature, at least its the same for everyone, so it can't be considered discrimination.

But the pass totally is. The old black lady, Regine something, that was at "Le Bilan" on TVA litteraly says it like its all fine, that its PURELY a measure to reward vaccinated for having follow the narrative. I wonder how some peoples can't understand how dangereous that idea is. Basically if you don't follow everything the governement says, you get discriminated and blocked at many places. Thats a dangerous precedant. You can't keep a measure simply on the concept of being a reward. If there is no scientific base behind it, it must go, and right now, it does not !

I have not read this long thread...but just want to say...

I was for the vaccine passport for a long time, but now i don't see the medical reason for it. basically everybody is at least partially vaccinated or has had it...

the only thing governments should be doing now is distributing vacccines, testing and increasing hospital capacity. point final. If someone has a co-morbidity and does not want to get vaccinated that's his problem, don't make it mine.

You hit the nail on the head. Vaccination passport lost all scientific justifications and is now nothing more but the loyalty pledge to the government.

Yes and including masks.
That is not where the evidence leads us. We have herd immunity so vaccin passports are pretty useless but masks still retain their usefulness as they prevent disease spread of upper airway tract infections. Covid influenza and the rest. But still should be optional. I’d wear one in crowded places.

That might be true but it should be optional and the individual should decide for themselves. I personally cannot stand the masks. They are so annoying, you got to keep on covering your mouth and nose whenever I ride the subway, sit inside anywhere and I wear glasses so it all fogs up. Then going to a bar and to wear masks really not fun at all. Imagine the kids sitting in class masked up all day and not seeing anyones face.
