the fear of Trump caused many who usually vote for the Bloc or NDP to go straight to the Liberals
People are right to be worried about what's happening in the US. Its impacting Canadian lives NOW and real solutions are needed NOW. I was not looking forward to Poilievre kissing Trump's ass just to maintain the shitty status quo. It's been inspiring seeing Canadians step up on their own, without needing to be told. That kind of unity matters. And if we can finally break the dumb interprovincial trade barriers, we might actually get somewhere as a country, as fellow Canadians - peu importe la langue.
Carney says we are united, the results show we never have been more divided
But maybe that’s how it needs to be. I didn't want to see a majority Liberal or Conservative government. And having them to keep Liberals in check is going to be good if they can prioritize economic growth instead of going full DOGE. Canadians witnessed firsthand what can happen by looking at what’s going on in the States. But during these times, potential war times to come, I have to say we need a fast thinking finance guy more than we need lib arts lobbyist that has never held an actual job outside of politics.
I'm a centrist pro-Canadian, and in this election, I leaned Liberal instead of NDP, else it could have meant the Conservatives winning, and I just couldn’t support that. So we indeed saw unity by voters shifting from the NDP, Bloc, etc to vote Liberal. That just shows Canadians know there are real challenges ahead and are getting ready for them and didn't simply trust Conservatives to be at the helm of that ship.
In the end, Poilievre showed that he was a one-trick pony. His whole strategy around attacking Trudeau was pathetic, the constant childish name calling is rediculous. That approach works with americans, I'm happy to see that we understood we needed something more mature. I do think we dodged a bullet. Trudeau resigning at that moment was his smartest move ever. I ironically gained a bit of respect for him there - so glad he's gone. But ya, Poilievre looked lost after that, highlighting his total lack of depth. A person that can't adapt is no leader and its now clear he would have failed us as he would have quielty knelt before Trump. Just when you thought it couldn't get worst he brings back Harper? Whoever came up with that brilliant desperate idea really needs to rethink their life as a political advisor. Can you imagine Carney dragging out Paul Martin ? just catastrophic.
Anyways, I do hope canadians can keep banding together and put their political differences aside, because we are headed towards rough seas and its going to take actions not words.
