I work for an airline and noticed my hometown team playing the Canadians in Oct. Attending a hockey game in Montreal and spending some time with an sp seems like a good justification for a short trip to Montreal. I don't want to buy a ticket in advance because I fly only if space is available and might not make the flight. Wondering how difficult it would be to buy a ticket from someone outside the Bell Center just prior to the game.

I second this. Never heard of someone not being able to buy last minute tickets. Now were they cheap? Certainly not.
So you’ll have to take in consideration in your budget that the tickets will be pricey then do you want to see the game with your date or alone?
Cause you have two options, either you find someone that requests full rate for the duration of the game + in private or you find someone who offers a discounted rate for the game + regular rate for private time.

I’ll be going to the game by myself. I’ve gone to MLB games and been able to get tickets under face value from scalpers just before the game. …Granted the games were far from sold out.
I don't know where you're from but hockey is kinda like bigger than Catholicism in Quebec nowadays. Every game is sold out. If your hometown team has an established rivalry with the habs or is simply a popular/good team, then it will make the tickets even more expensive.
One way or another, you can get tickets at the last minute, but it can be expensive, especially if it’s against a good team and on a Saturday night, for example.
If it’s a weekday game against a sub-par team, it will obviously be easier to get tickets and they’ll be less expensive.
FYI, the Habs are in a rebuilding phase and they were not a playoff team last year. Nonetheless, most games are sold out and tickets are somewhat difficult to get (as was mentioned).

That's what I was hoping for. It's a Tuesday night game against the Wild. Since I'll be flying space available it'll have to be last minute, and if I can't book a girl of my choice last minute (as others have warned) I'll have to TOFTT.
Booking some of the girls definitely feels like trying to get a center ice front row seat for game 7 of the Stanley cup finals. I've been trying to see some of them for months to no avail, permanently fully booked lol. In fact, I'll trade anyone tickets for their bookings with them
I still remember before COVID how you can leave a habs game at 10PM, look up the schedule, and still be able to book the top hottest SPs last minute outcall to your room no problem
Too many clients and too few SPs now. And even fewer that works at night
I have gone to a few games in the past, I usually wait until the puck drops or shortly before and get good scalper prices. If I do not get a ticket I hit a nearby pub and try to get a seat. Montreal is not my team of choice but enjoy the game and Hab fans are pretty good.
