I watched Hiding Biden's speech last night and thought he did a pretty good job. Much of what he said wasn't anything new, but he was reassuring and confident. 61% of Americans support the Covid Relief Bill and Biden has a 51% approval rating.
I think that specific kind of speech - some empathy, some reassurance, here's the plan - is right in Biden's sweet spot. He's good at that. He isn't a sweeping orator to lift up a crowd, or a witty debater, or any of that shit. But he's strong at "look, this is what we're doing, we get it".
If you read the article Bedon was lucky the virus and BLM happened.
We don’t have to choose Biden’s way, which would give Trump a perfect foil

They really tried to make that idea stick and it just never did.
Approval ratings are tricky things when trying to gauge a politician's success. For example:
NY Gov Cuomo approval rating April 2020 - 71%
NY Gov Cuomo approval rating March 2021 - 38%
Just sayin'
It's true. You can dramatically fuck things up or get a massive boost.
President George HW Bush approval rating Mar 1991 - 89%
President George HW Bush approval rating Aug 1992 - 29%
If Biden suddenly fucks something up with the virus especially, his numbers will drop like a rock.
