In the hours after Mr Biden sets foot in the White House, he will embark on a blitz of executive actions designed to signal a clean break from his predecessor's administration, according to a memo seen by US media.

Among the orders planned soon after taking office are:

A US return to the Paris climate agreement - the global pact on cutting carbon emissions

Repealing the controversial travel ban on mostly Muslim-majority countries

Mandating the wearing of masks on federal property and when travelling interstate

An extension to nationwide restrictions on evictions and foreclosures due to the pandemic

The executive orders are just one part of his ambitious plan for his first 10 days in office, according the memo.

The President-elect is also expected to send a major new immigration bill to Congress, as well as focusing on passing a $1.9tn (£1.4tn) stimulus plan to help the country's economy recover from coronavirus.

Around the corner
You forgot the cancellation of the Keystone Xl pipeline.
Should make all Albertans extremely happy to welcome Biden.

Mandating the wearing of masks when on federal property and when travelling interstate, wow that is going to have a huge impact.
How does that work exactly you put on your mask until you pass the welcome sign on the highway when crossing from Florida into Georgia.
He must have put a lot of thought into this one.

Hi Sene.

We do not yet know what Biden's presidency will be like. Good or bad? Only time will tell.

But since we do know what Trump did in four years, we already know for certain that Donnie was the worst president ever.

Let's hope Biden does a good job...but even if he doesn't, it will not be possible for him or anyone ever to be worse than Trump.

1- Alberta should have diversified its economy but they put all their eggs in the same wrong basket... since too long... Jason Kenney is certainly not the right guy now but Albertans elected him.
2- You are absolutely right, wearing mask on federal properties is a nice move as it is not obvious he has the power to force it throughout the country. That is under the governors to mandate mask wearing within their state.
3- Travelling interstate should be discourage at it is how a less-contaminated area is infected. That is how you control an epidemy.
4- If you have any suggestion that could have a huge impact to win over COVID, they are more than welcome. I guess the COVID thread would be more appropriated to discuss it.

Hmmm
Blaming Albertas leader for something Biden is likely to directly impact is rediculous especially when the federal government also approved it.
I know it is the Governors who mandate mask wearing in their state which was my point exactly, what he is proposing is totally useless and he is not banning interstate travel which he probably doesn’t have the power to do either.
So they put on their mask to go into a government building and then come out and go buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks without wearing one.
This has been the problem all along that policy in the US is controlled by governors mayors etc... and the President has no enforcement powers which when it is Biden is pointed out fast yet the same people have no problem laying all the blame squarely on Trumps shoulders.
Travelling interstate should be discouraged yep how is that working out, Americans are really going to listen to that they proved that last Thanksgiving and Christmas again Trumps fault it really has to come from the President, Americans on their own are too dumb to figure that out.

Yes I have one basic suggestion, it has been a whole fucking year of this, and scientists have been telling you all over the world what to do, if you are still too fucking ignorant and selfish to follow it there is no President on earth that is going to help you. Stay home if you must go out wear a fucking mask and keep your distance.

President-elect Joe Biden became emotional as he spoke at the Major Joseph R. "Beau" Biden III National Guard Center in Delaware before departing for Washington, D.C. where he will be inaugurated as the next president of the United States.

Finally a president who is capable of feeling emotions.

I followed this tribute to the 400,000 deaths in the USA. It was highly sincere and touching. A problem trump never addressed. To the contrary, he denied it calling it a democrat hoax. Still now he refuses to acknowledge any responsability. Stupidly he said in his last prerecorded leaving statement he was proud to be a president who didn't declare war. He should have declare war on COVID. Under his presidence too much deaths (twice the amount in Canada per capita) and he provoked an insurrection, own words of Mitch McConnell, senate republican leader, today. What a moron!

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the Biden administration will return to daily press briefings as well as briefings with health officials on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

I'm still reeling from having decent, respectful, intelligent, and clear communicators in power.

Finally, a normal human being as an official, instead of lying around, spreading false information with super thick layers of makeup.

'We Want To Bring Transparency Back,' Says WH Press Secretary.

It's nice and refreshing to see this new WH Press Secretary.

It's a new day.

It’s an odd way to seek national unity: call a significant portion of the American public white supremacists, racists, and nativists. Welcome to the Biden presidency.

If the shoe fits, wear it. The shoe fits a lot of rightwing nutjobs, conspiracy theorists, corrupt Republicans, sore losers, liars, Trumplovers, racists and traitors...and of course # 45.

Pres. Biden Delivers Remarks on COVID-19 Executive Actions

BIDEN DISCOVERS TRUMP ADMIN HAD NO VACCINE PLAN: Pres. Biden delivers remarks on his administration’s immediate efforts to combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 400,000 Americans and infected more than 24 million others. Yesterday, three of the more than a dozen executive actions Biden signed were regarding coronavirus.
He launched a nationwide 100-day mask mandate, moved to rejoin the World Health Organization, and reinstated the Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense—the pandemic preparedness team organized by the Obama administration following the Ebola outbreak but then dismantled by the Trump administration. One of Biden’s focal points on battling the virus is to increase the rate of vaccinations across the country, saying that he hopes to vaccinate 100 million Americans in his first 100 days. However, sources close to the administration told CNN that yesterday, Biden and others learned that the Trump administration did not leave any vaccine distribution plans.

Biden has a lot of work to do in undoing all the problems Trump caused. It's amazing that even though 45 spent most of his time crying, bragging, telling lies, insulting people, playing golf and watching TV, Trump was still able to cause so much damage, do so much to make himself a laughingstock and his country a worldwide object of pity, and finally incite a treasonous insurrection. If Biden can eradicate the severe hardships Trump caused it will be a stunning achievement...especially considering that many corrupt Republicans will try to stop his efforts to undo Trump's damage.
