This has long been a complaint with many players. It's just like all the other too-long professional sports seasons, driven by a hunger for profits.
Swiatek again slams 'intense' tennis calendar
Iga Swiatek criticized the relentless tennis calendar ahead of Wimbledon, saying players should not be forced to compete in more than 20 tournaments a year to maintain their rankings.

You didn't mention that her German opponent is 37 years old, won 64 points to 48 for Leylah, did not have her serve broken and made 71% of her first serves. Leylah couldn't have done much about the last of those match stats.
If she played like her US Open final in 21’ No doubt she would have won. What really matters in pro tennis is what you have between your ears….
