Strip Club Business

I was arguing with friends on strip club businesses.
My grandparents owned a few clubs, back 30 years ago, and they told me they used to pay the girls about 25$ for the whole night (in the 80's approximately) and whatever the dancers made extra was right in their pocket. When they were dancing at tables, the money they were making went directly to them.

What about today? Is is still like this? I overheard a lot of storiesof how girls are paid in strip clubs. ( I guess it changes when it is a FS club.) I actually was told that ins FS clubs (only busy nights), girls had to pay a cover before working.

So how is it like today? Does the employer (strip club owner) still pays the girls a minimum. Is there any legislation for that?

Discuss.

Thanks for sharing.

As far as I know, there aren't anymore clubs that pay an hourly rate to the ladies for working (like Chez Parée in the "good old days"). That salary was declared both for the club (expense) and for the ladies (income). But those days are long gone. Now it's the other way around, in most clubs, ladies have to pay to work there (bar fee, DJ...).

That would be illegal if they have to pay. It's more covered as a bar service.
Some clubs in remote areas do pay the girl otherwise they wouldn't even go there. It's tough business. Those who have loto machines are the one making money. I heard that the government might remove machines from certain clubs if they don't reach a certain quota.

Why is it illegal? Can't strippers be regarded as independant contractors? Is it really any different from a shopping mall from charging rent for a kiosk?

I heard thias first hand.

was told by a girl that dances at clubs that she has to pay for the priviledge of dansing in clubs. She is also fined if she arrives late or leaves early. She also has to hand over some of her earnings to the club or the bouncer. ( This part I am not clear on )

I can also confirm that girls pay a small fee to work at the clubs

each night. There are some clubs that waive the fee if a girl

goes in early enough. There is also other clubs where girls can

pay the dj and they dont have to go on stage if they think its a

waste of time and $ for them.

About girls giving the club/bouncers a cut of what they make is

news to me.
