Reason to use a fake number - attempted extortion warning

I got a text message from the number 315-704-4727 to the burner number I use where they were apparently looking to extort me for money or contact my work etc. The message read as follows.

"Listen well, this is Thomas, I contact you about a matter that is happening with several of my girls. Your number has been reported because you were bothering them and that you are only wasting their time and their time is valuable here and it is also money, so that you are going to reach an agreement with me, do not try to avoid my messages because it will be worse for you, and you will have consequences for not having done things well for making my girl waste her time."
"If you block me or don't reply to my messages, I will get your information and we may also get additional information like where you work, where you live and where you go. I recommend that you pay the fine for your own good."

out of curiosity i replied with: "Damn, I don't want any trouble. How much and where should we meet?" they then tried to call me and i rejected the call and messaged "No call just text me" then "And confirm what or who you are referring to."

It has now been a few hours and no follow up text messages or calls but this does highlight just the peace of mind of using a burner number in this industry. Hopefully this also helps anyone else whom they try to take advantage of and it seems avoiding talking and making the communication via text might cause them not to want to explicitly state details in writing. I am not sure which SP would have tried this but I would imagine someone off leolist which also highlights why you should user agencies that are well regarded too imo, though also with a burner number.

This is not a reason to just use an agency, you wanna use LL then this is what happens and you get scared and answer back.
Most agencies don't accept burner or app phones, so good luck for that.
Use MERB, again USE MERB, just a last time don't waste your time on LL unless it's been reviewed here.
I believe it has nothing to do with you and you're just giving your self high blood pressure for nothing.

I am not worried since it is just a burner number that i would use only for this. I messaged back because I was actually curious how it would play out, this is a number only used for texting an SP, I use the textnow app for creating numbers in case anyone wants something to use.

Most agencies here don’t book with app numbers, they have a way of knowing.

I receive scammy text messages and phone calls on my real phone too. Just ignore it.

Now if the threats, blackmail etc comes from someone you saw in the past, that’s another story.
