The Blob,

Did you hear Bettman's French? While I am not exactly an expert on spoken French, his French sounded cringeworthy. You can't possibly cheer someone for butchering a language like that in public.

Yes i did. He would have get booed even if not trying to speak french, because he is everywhere he goes. I'm not sure what answer you're looking for, really. We don't boo people for trying to speak french.

So you are saying his French is good? Sounded horrible to me

It was indeed horrible, didn't say it wasn't :) But he didn't get booed for that or the halfhearted effort as you asked before. He was booed cause he is Gary Bettman ;)

Anyways, i hope we'll enjoy Slaf.

Habs fans hate Bettman with passion because:
1) Bettman's inaction over the biased Lee refereeing in last year's Stanley Cup playoffs probably cost the Habs the Cup,
2) he's an asshole who acts like a wannabee dictator (he was hated when he was in the NBA as well), and
3) he is plain and simple a real schmuck!

They signed Georgiev because they are cap strapped and don't have the money to sign Kuempfer who is being allowed to walk. Avs going with low cost goalie tandem of Georgiev and Francouz and hoping one of these 2 backup goalies can show himself to be a starter. Good luck with that experiment.

Well, they proved that you dont need a 7-10 M goalie to win the cup. My feeling is we wont see these high goalie contracts 8n the future.

We will see what Kuempfer and Campbell get in a very thin goalie market. Colorado won the Cup despite not receiving high end goalie services in the playoffs, but they played some teams like Edmonton that had awful goaltending and they also beat St. Louis after their goalie was deliberately injured. So in my opinion Colorado got a little bit lucky on their way to the Cup. I am assuming they think they can get by with Georgiev and Francouz or that one of them will step up, but we will need to see if that happens.

They also beat Vasi and I dont think there was any luck involved there.

Well they did get lucky that Brayden Point was injured. In case you forgot, Point was playoff MVP the 2 prior years. The TB offense stalled a bit without him. I also think TB had a tougher road to the finals than Colorado did, and Vasilevskiiy may have been worn down by some of the OT games he played and general overuse. That the Avs got lucky with these factors cannot be ignored, even though you may try to ignore them.

Not ignoring anything, I just dont agree at all. Playoffs are playoffs, you have to adapat to all the shit that can happen. At 27 y.o., if Vasilevskiy was worn down he may as well retire. Do you think guys like Roy, Brodeur, Hasek or Fleury would have felt any fatigue in these circumstances? If TB didnt rise to the challenge of loosing Point, they simply didnt deserve the cup, great teams use this kind of badluck as motivation to rise.

Buts. 71
Aides. 103
Total points. 174

Nobody has commented on Evander Kane signing a 4 year contract extension with Edmonton, which was granted a cheap hometown discount, or Jonny Gaudreau informing Calgary he wants to be a FA so he can be at home with his pregnant wife. Gaudreau is a Jersey boy so the Gaudreau sweepstakes are thought to be a 3 way dogfight between New Jersey, Philadelphia and the NY Islanders. Any guesses on where Jonny G signs and for how much?

I think Oilers got quite a good deal with Kane. He showed some very good seriousness with them. Lets hope he spends a peaceful summer. Johnny hockey can end up wherever he feels like, as long as its not with the habs! Lmao
Seriously, the guy is a good player but at 10M? No thanks, to me he's not a game changer.
