I'll start with an injury update.

Crushing blow for the NY Jets, Chad Pennington is out for the year with a torn rotator cuff, AGAIN!

The news in New England is almost as bad as All Pro safety Rodney Harrison is out for the year and possibly done for good as he has torn his PCL, ACL, and MCL!!! Mountains crumbling into the sea!

Back later with picks for the week. Perhaps whoever the Jets are playing is a good bet to win?

In addition to Harrisons loss for the Pats, Matt Light, one of their starting offensive guards is out for the forseeable future with a knee injury.

More important for the Jets is that Curtis Martin is running like shit. Chad was a fairly good QB who was able to perform because defenses had to play honest with Martin. Now that the running game has gone to pot... I predict Vinny will be sacked ten times in the next two games.

Good riddance, Rodney Harrison

I've been following football long enough not to cheer for other players's injuries.

but if there is one player that had it coming to him, it is the SOB that is Rodney Harrison. this cheap shot artist made a career of hurting people people delibarately (see that hit on Trent Green in 1999 to break his leg or a blow to a Packers player in 2005... and that was in pre-season) and illegal hits that made the most fined player in NFL history.

good riddance, the NFL is a better place without him. and considering the three ligaments were affected, very likely his carrer is over !!!

Jets coach insisted last night that Vinnie would be the backup, not the starter, so he may not get sacked 10 times after all. Of course it is Vinnie so he will probably get sacked twice just standing on the sideline. By the waterboy.

I did not realize that about Harrison! I always knew he set guys up for hard hits when they were going for a ball but what specifically about the hits you describe were cheap? I guess him being in San Diego all those years made him so obscure I never noticed him or the way he played. Seriously though, the most fined player in NFL history? Any details on amount of fines, number of illegal hits etc?



In a dramatic shift of news for the Jets, it was revealed last night that the most prominent Dr. in the world(supposedly anyway) in regards to rotator cuff injuries, thinks Pennington may not have a torn cuff after all. Something was said about scar tissue and another possibility or two but he is not going to have immediate surgery or anything drastic like that. He has been advised to rehab for ten days at which time the Dr. will reasess the shoulder and prescribe the proper course of action. At any rate Pennington will be out for at least several games in a best case scenario, and worst case out for the season. I would say the Jets are a good bet to lose this week, but they ARE playing the Ravens.

just type "Rodney Harrsion fines" on Google, that will be convincing enough. besides constantly bitching to the refs and pulling crap after plays are over, his most infamous feats would be:

1-injuring a defenseless Trent Green in the 1999 pre-sason, breaking his leg and allowing an unknown named Kurt Warner to take over. a pre-season game dammit !!!!!!!

2-hitting Jerry Rice leading with his helmet and having no regret about it. he has been fined a countless number of times for this reason.

only Pats fans are blind enough to defend this guy...

Scenario For AFC East

Pennington out for the season. Harrison out for the season. Spikes out for the season. Jets sign 41-year old Vinnie Testaverde. Man, it's been a tough week on the AFC East!!!!

The Jets are just another bad team without Pennington. The Bills are an over-rated and under-performing team. Over-rated now because they won against many bad teams last year. But this year, they have to deal with many decent teams and they fail miserably so far. They played like headless chicken against the Bucs and the Falcons. They under-performed in all aspects of the game, offense, defense (even with Spikes then), and special team. It is embarassing to see them being out-played, out-coached, out-matched, and out-spirited by opponents. Losman is obviously being rushed into the line up and is far from being ready for prime time. Running back McGahee pales in comparison to the Bucs Cadillac Williams and other top backs. Tom Donohoe, the Bills' President and GM, is representative of the Bills ill fortune. He definitely is over-rated and under-performing. I wonder why old man Wilson would extend Donohoe's contract. Look for the Bills and the Jets to compete for the last place in AFC East.

I am not surprised at all that the Dolphins are doing well. Look what a good coach can do to an otherwise bad football team? That being said, the Patriots will again take the first place in AFC this season. They are just too well coached a team to lose the first seed position to the Dolphins. Obviously nothing is final until the season is over. The interesting thing is, the season is still young, any number of things can happen and change the picture and dynamics drastically. So sit back and enjoy!!!

Back and Forth

Pennington was confirmed today as having a torn rotator cuff. Will they change their minds yet again?

Matt Light's (OG for the Pats) injury was reported on Sportscenter as being a broken leg, he is out for the majority of the season if not entirely.

Pats response to the injuries has been to sign some no name free agents, not gonna do it this time Bill. Prepare to get shelled in N.E. The Pats only hope is going to be to try and ground and pound with Corey Dillon in order to keep opposing teams offenses off the field as much as possible. I expect to see the Pat's trying to run down the clock as much as possible right from the get go. They do NOT want to get in a shootout with a high powered offense like Indy. Mark it down now, Indy is going to dismantle the Pats. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

So, why is it that Indy's "high powered offense" is more dangerous then Oakland's? Considering, of course, that Oakland is averaging 19 points a game at 0-3 and Indy with just under 16 ppg at 3-0?

People are claiming that Indy's defense is pretty good. They are: against the Ravens and Browns offense (they actually WERE good against the jags).

People were claiming the Giants D vs run was pretty good, too. Then LT decided to have a 200 yard day, the vast majority of it on the ground.

Only sure bet this weekend is Houston at Cincy - but I wouldn't be surprised if the Bungles show up instead of the Bengals.

Is there an over/under on how many penalties the Raiders will have against Dallas?

It may be true that Losman hasn't looked too convincing as the Bill's QB of the future, but his offensive line is aweful. Still, he hasn't looked very decisive and the Bills may have to turn to Kelly Holcomb before their season crumbles, although I think they more than likely will ride Losman win or lose. Losing Takeo spikes is going to really hurt.

Spikes is one of my favorite LBs.... always somehow making a play... a 10-15 tackles per game is not exceptional for him... he has a nack for the ball and his tackles are devastating...

So, why is it that Indy's "high powered offense" is more dangerous then Oakland's? Considering, of course, that Oakland is averaging 19 points a game at 0-3 and Indy with just under 16 ppg at 3-0?

Indy's offense is the most capable and well rounded in the league. They have arguably the best quarterback in the game(all due respect to Brady) in Peyton Manning. The Raiders have Kerry "six pack" Collins who has been an underacheiver consistently throughout his career and throws INT's like rice at a wedding. Randy Moss can not do it all by himself. Raiders also self destruct through penalties. Any reason to believe that will change? Not to mention Marvin Harrison is for all practical purposes just as good a receiver as Randy Moss. Edgerrin James is a premier running back and the offensive line has been playing together for several years. They are all seasoned veterans hungry for a title who have come up just short for several years. Oakland is a patchwork of misfits destined to keep coming up short. Don't be surprised if they end up with the number one pick in the draft.

Oh I forgot to mention, the Raiders secondary is giving up 300+ yards a game passing. Expect Drew Bledsoe to move up a few more notches this week on the all time passing yardage charts.

Pat's Fan's Opinion of Harrison

Yeah...I think Harrison is (was) slightly overrated...that being said I'll say that this team will miss him. Was he a cheap shot artist...maybe. Did he play hardand...yes. I think that a lot of people would defend him if he were playing for the team they root for. I remember how Chris Nilan was viewed here in Boston when he played for Montreal but when he came home to Boston all was forgotten.

This weekend the Pats are at home and I think it will be a good win for the Pats...I'll pick em by 10.

Other Picks...Baltimore, Arizona (they finally get in the win column) & I'm picking the Titans to upset to the Colts.

I used to despise Drew Bledsoe, his attitude was so arrogant and cocky it just drove me nuts. Now he plays for my team and I am hoping he keeps up the great work. Granted he has matured somewhat and now understands that Parcells is trying to make him better, not show him up.

Don't worry about Collins, he just needs to fall off the wagon, then the picks will come. I think this guy plays drunk at times. Watch his eyes and see if they aren't rolling around in different directions.

I've told many that this year won't be the year of the Patriots. Not really because Ty Law & Bruschi are gone, but mostly due to the fact two of Belchick's top assistant coaches are gone. Yes, the departures of Weiss and Crenell will have quite a negative impact.

As for my team, the Bills, well.....they sure stunk the joint! Did anyone see the kick-off return by Terrence McGee at the end of the 1st half with no more time left on the clock? He returned the ball from 61 yards away, only to be tripped up by his own player (Mark Campbell) at the 4-yard line!!!! It was a sign of things to come......QB controversy is brewing in Buffalo!
