Please explain how you know this for a fact as you imply??? I understand how many could believe that. But I have some doubts he abused any children. Of course, when looking at all that we do know about his many eccentricities and his closeness to children he comes off as extraordinarily unusual in his lifestyle, many would say...perverse. Add to that being inundated by the medias obsession for every strange quirk, becoming conditioned by all the endless jokes and freakish caricatures about his tastes and general character, it's almost impossible not to accept that he was capable of some sort of gross perversion. And, unfortunately many people would believe Jackson was a pedophile if there had never been any accusations just because his strangeness is totally repulsive to them. But being repulsed is not equal to guilt, and if you read about the case against him, the changes in testimony by the victim, inability to adequately describe Jackson's physiology, and seemingly self-incriminating tapes of the accuser leave doubt.

What seems most likely to be the truth is the professional assessment. That Jackson was a regressed 10 year old, an adult who thought he was a child interacting with children believing he was one of them. Even the mother of the alleged victim insisted there was no wrongdoing. So hate everything about him as you will, but your revulsion is not evidence of guilt. As for me, I don't know.

Moby Dick, please stop being a dick and, if you have any proof he abused a single kid, please show it to the world because nobody was ever able to prove anything. Look at the guy's way-of-life: he was a kid who forgot to grow-up, stuck between being a 10 years old and a poorly-adapted adult.

THE case? There were two. Read the sworn affidavit of the 1993 victim here, as well as links to the grand jury / prosecution of the 2nd trial in 2004. Look for the list of things seized from Neverland, including a CROTCHLESS MJ-SIZED BUNNY SUIT

What you are saying (by the way Moby is not implying, he is stating) is that unless anyone on this board was in the room when MJ was wearing the bunny suit, we can't possibly leap to the uncertain conclusion that he was a paedo. Despite the evidence, repeated court cases, and so on. Nice. I guess we'll never convict paedos that don't film themselves, because, we should err on the side of the accused. OK.

For the record, I did find it upsetting that he died. A part of my youth was lost with him, and yes, Thriller was an amazing oeuvre. But his predilection for little boys is as much a part of his legacy.

Excellent! That's precisely the problem. What you are describing is an impulsive reaction to something extremely unusual and strikes most of us as disturbingly unseemly. But unless just sleeping in a bed with a child is pedophilia it takes a little more than that. Your "if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, chances are it's a duck" theory sound perfectly logical, reasonable, and correct. But it's still not proving anything. A mountain of evidence showing everything but the final act still does not mean the final act happened.

Let's take another pattern based on your theory. You are a 40 or 50 year old board hobbyist who has been calling for the youngest escorts for years. I know this sounds like it's off the beam, but the army once did a study many years ago of it's soldiers in battle showing only about 25% ever fired their guns during battle. So with all the training, arms, being in a battle, and all the dead and wounded enemy around many soldiers never killed or shot anyone...not every duck who all evidence makes seem the same does the same.

Sums up my own feelings I think.

Not a particular fan, much about him was disturbing but obviously a great entertainer from a young age; it is normal now to give tribute to that which was best in his life: his contributions and achievements as a dancer, singer and songwriter. I think it should also give pause to all of us seeking happiness in this life about where to look for it and remind us that it cannot be bought.

I am no fan of celebrity-worship either but remember that people usually don't piss on the corpse at funerals, even poor people's funerals. It is very rare for an obituary to not gloss over the negatives and celebrate the positives. This is as it should be.

And Moby Dick, your posts are in extremely poor taste. There are those who would particularly want to focus on his flaws at this time (and there are certainly very disturbing facts out there) but I hope most of them at least articulate them with a little more class.

Clifford Olson unfortunately doesn't really have a whole lot of positive stuff to celebrate about him. I imagine his family and any friends he has (assuming anyone is left) will try though. That's what you do at a funeral.

You don't go in there with a horn and jump for joy and say : "The bastard is finally dead! Yeah, hip hip hurray! I'm so happy, you other people are so stupid for not realising how great it is he's dead. Happy, happy, happy what a loser he was, want a cigar? Drinks are on me! I haven't been this happy since I saw my first monster truck show."

We have heard this before, Elvis Presley, Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole Smith, Andy Gibb, etc. There are many videos on the Internet of Presley performing in Las Vegas in a drug-induced haze; he was able to pull it off until his very last tour when he reportedly began slurring and/or forgetting the words to his own songs.

In Jackson's case he did have a severe back injury from falling off stage and he felt he needed to treat the pain. He enlisted a sympathetic African American doctor, Conrad Murray, who was himself $400,000 in debt, to travel with him on the tour and continue to medicate him. It's highly unlikely Jackson would have been anything like his 1983 persona on stage:

I am not sure if you know this but Michael Jackson wrote many of his songs, among them "Billie Jean" and "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough." While I would not put him in a class with John Lennon or Prince in terms of musicianship, if you consider the total package of musicianship, dancing ability and charisma and presence as an entertainer, he may have had the greatest total package of all of these guys, including Elvis, who did not write any of his music.

Some people claim that Elvis was the greatest. He may have been one of the greatest performers/entertainers ever to hit the stage, but he was not a songwriter or a musician. I will always dispute his being called the King of Rock n Roll because very few of his songs qualify as rock n roll in any way. That title should belong to Little Richard.

Very big sigh on the decline of musical taste. By the way, MJ is no genius in my eyes either (a showbiz/marketing genius maybe as he succeeded to attract so many people around him, but nothing more). I consider Beethoven and to a lesser extent Mozart to be geniuses, besides nobody really comes to my mind.
