Dee and JJ, don't forget he was never convicted of anything. There was no proof and the only thing that could be understood from the accusations (TWICE) was somebody out to get money from him.

The guy was a big kid and lived in his own universe so, it's easy for me to believe he never did anything wrong to the kids. The first time, he caved-in and paid , that's it. On the last charges, the kid's and parents' statement were so confused the jury rejected all accusations. The parents were hoping for a conviction and then would have jumped on a civil suit to wipe him out.

Michael has been on an extraordinary impossibly difficult and often self-destructive journey for years.

Many people dislike Michael. Let’s face it he touched everyone’s lives in one-way or another.
Although his music did not do much for me I prefer more the old classic rock n roll (early 60’s and 70’s)
but being white myself and from the same era as Michael I remember him as just an innocent child star hopping on a stage.
Watching Michael Jackson growing up on stage from age 5 on the small TV screen singing all the old hits from the early days and so many more that followed, and throughout the years constantly making headline news that Michael created for himself and some in disbelief !!!

He was indicted 2 times for child molestation and he had many mental issues.
The guy was falling apart mentally for many years and has difficulties functioning as a human being.
A human simply can’t withstand this level of prolonged stress.

I think some people have every right not to care too much for the guy.

Michael (Joe) Jackson left such a legacy on this earth like no other man, and has touched millions upon millions of lives with his music and showmanship talent that is categorical without equal;
a true icon in his own right but so too was his discomfort with the norms of the world.

This has got to be one of the saddest days in music history and a enormous lose to the black community and every other culture that this world holds!!!!!

We thank you for such a driving inspiration in your music that paved the path for so many more after you!!!

Give me a break. As with doctors the first objective for every human should be to follow the Hypocratic Oath which is " Cause no harm". Jackson cannot say that he did not cause harm. Yes he was a great musician/artist. Was he a great human being ? No.

This worshipping of celebrity for celebrity sake turns my stomach sometimes.

While Jackson had an unnatural attachment to young boys, I never thought it was a sexual attraction. I always felt that he himself had never grown up and sought out the attention of those who had the same emotional maturity as he did. I don't think that sex was a part of his life in any way. He really did believe he was Peter Pan.

The guy was fucked up in more ways than we will probably ever know, but I really don't think he was a pedophile in any usual meaning of the term.

I don't think he was any more fucked up than Madonna is with her addiction for buying third world children, or Angelina Jolie's attempt to fix whatever is lacking in herself by either adopting or giving birth to an endless stream of children. Or Tom Cruise, as well as many others, and his belief in scientology.

They're all nuts. And fortunately for them, they can afford to be.

Prescription Drugs are not Candy!

It's going to come out that he died because he took prescription drugs like candy, just like Elvis, just like Heath Ledger, and just like Anna Nicole Smith. His attorney told CNN he repeatedly warned the family that someone is going to find him dead, get him off the fucking drugs, and if you don't I am going to talk. So now he is talking. The problem with these 4 celebrity deaths is that nobody stepped in and provided any tough love. These celebrities surround themselves with YES men and YES women who are feeble minded enablers. The doctors who are prescribing the meds don't give two shits as long as they are being paid whopping fees. I believe Elvis Presley's Doctor was stripped of his license. With Anna Nicole fake names were used by her BF and others and the doctors were duped.

RIP Michael. You'll be missed. Not by me in particular but by a lot of other people. Can't argue that he was a brilliant visionary and one of the biggest talents in a century, but his sick behaviour turned him in a joke for the last 20 years. I hope he's at peace now...

That said, I can't believe I scored such an unexpected win in my death pool! I was laughed at for making that pick two years ago, but I just had a feeling that his time was running short. Honestly, I thought it would be a suicide not a heart attack...

EB's point about prescription drugs is completely right. If Michael was smarter he would have stuck with good old fashioned illegal hard drugs and booze. Look at Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne for god's sake! They are both at least 10 years older (nearly 20 years older in Keith's case) and have taken enough drugs to keep a small village high for 100 years. If fact, in a recent interview Keith Richards was quoted as saying that he thought the current year was 1994, making him a full 15 years younger than his current age (if only in his mind)... Truly miraculous.

How long will it be before the reports start coming in about Michael Jackson flipping burgers in a Wendy's somewhere in Alabama? IS he really dead? OR did his best buddy, the Sultan of Brunei (one of the richest men in the world) arrange for his fake death a new private life? I give it about 1 more day for the consipiracy theories to start hitting the mainstream media.

Michael Jackson was a talented individual but his style wasn't really to my liking . . . unfortunately Michael was plagued by many legal problems which made him fall from grace, that is the child molestation charges and as mentioned before although he wasn't found guilty there is always some level of truth to an accusation whoever it's laid against. For all those that have spoken negatively about him have no right to do so as no one is perfect, I'm not saying that what he did in the past was correct but what I want to state is that what he did is weighed by his conscious.

Did I say anywhere that I worshipped the guy? Learn to read, Time to Punt, I mentioned earlier that I had just as many negative things to say about MJ than I had good ones when arguing with my former roommate who at the time was a completely unapologetic Jackson booster.

However I can say that, probably unlike you, I HAVE met the man once. I didn't leave the meeting in love with the guy and I did find his squeeky voice a bit disturbing. But he had a sense of humour and I could tell the man had a great mind for business. And there was my one and only meeting.

Did he molest any children over the years? Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I'm with Techman, I tend to think the man really had NO sexuality of any kind. And I think he earns a few points for his involvement with USA for Africa back in the '80's, and for personifying a human bridge for black america to finally get accepted into a formerly-reticent white mainstream.

Totally agree with you there. I would include those who worship sports figures in there also. It's fun and totally understandable for kids to do it, but when adults do it, it isn't the same thing.

Well...I saw a woman, with her grown daughter, in tears over Jackson's death on the news last night and I did find it more than a little pathetic that she had such a reaction. Seriously, even his own family didn't break down like that. It's OK to be sad but let's get real here.

I will say it must have been 5 or 6 years later before I actually understood the lyrics for Billie Jean. Did he write his own songs or did he have a song writer on his payroll?

He wrote Billie Jean and it was produced by Quincy Jones. I believe he wrote 3 other songs on Thriller.

I learned the news yesterday at Cleo's. The DJ kept playing MJ songs and it was depressing. First, I thought that I misheard the DJ when he broke the news or maybe I was just in denial.

I was a fan of MJ when he started his carrier and before he engaged in his endless metamorphosis process. He was the only singer I was fan of. I was rather worshiping scientists but I was a strange teenager. Fortunately, I am not a strange teenager anymore, just a strange adult.

Feeling sorry or sad for his death has nothing to do with worshiping the man. Speaking for myself, his death took with it many sweet memories as I loved his first songs and used to do my homework listening to that music. Also, it meant that people that we liked at one point of our life are starting to die. So my reaction to his death was more egoistic.

Another death that affected me was that of Laura Branigan. She died in 2004, thought I only learned about her death just a few months ago. I was not a fan of her, but her songs were intimately associated with some period of my life.

I guess people who were not teenagers in the eighties will have trouble to understand what we are talking about. Worshiping maybe a trick of kids, but hell we were kids in those years.
