It's also not a bad idea to be patient. If you plan on getting a better deal from the scalpers, head to the Bell Centre after the first period has begun. You'll find at least one or two of them who will be more reasonable since the last thing they want is to wind up holding unsold tickets. If you have to wait until the midpoint of the first period (say around 7:30pm), then i'd do it. Stick to your guns and don't bend.
And as always, be vigilant. Iggy & I nearly got screwed by someone who sold a pair of tickets on one of those online sites i mentionned. He told us he had won the tickets at the Montreal Casino and that they were located in their private booth. He told us that there'd be a lot of local celebrities there & we'd be offered a 5-star buffet.
Well, we showed up, and were nearly turned around by the booth's staff. They have a list with the guests' names and of course, our names were not on it. The gentleman told us we had been had. He told us to leave. I then got an idea & called the guy who had sold us the tickets, and passed my phone to the booth's attendant. I don't know what was said between them, but the gentleman came back & told us we could stay....but that this was extremely unusual (for them to allow us to stay) and that next time we wouldn't be so lucky.
Oh yeah....no celebrities were in attendance (other than Iggy & I.....

) and the 5-star buffet consisted of hotdogs, pizza & smoked meat sandwiches. Free beer/liquor, though. But we gave the two attendants a pretty good tip on our way out after the game to show our appreciation.
