How long should a banning last?

The question is not as simple as it may first appear given recent events, so I thought it was worthwhile canvassing the views of fellow members.

We have to, of course, be aware that the results are not at all binding on the Mods, but as open/fair minded individuals there is no doubt that they will weigh your opinions... but I must again stress that in the end THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO AS THEY SEE FIT...

I hope most members are like me... while I don't always agree with the Mods (indeed at the threat of a banning I voluntarily banned my self - while not kidding myself that I need the Board more then it needs me) I believe they are entitled to a large amount of deference and respect (for once in my life I'm not being sarcastic). Additionally, they are to be thoroughly congratulated for the smooth, relatively battle free, pleasant operation of the Board for the last several months until just recently.

Accordingly, I urge members to resist comments along the lines of: "Shit they weren't even paid a chocolate bar for their most recent actions."

I'll try to be brief. Each case should be viewed on it's own merits. And MERITS is the key word. There a vast difference between a momentary impulse and repetitive incorrigible habituals. The first can be allowed a great deal of latitude. The worst of the latter should be on the tightest leash and allowed no leeway at all. We should rely on and respect the mods judgments. But they should also be open to criticism, especially in instances where their own sentences are drastically and shockingly reversed.

If not, what's the consequence for the offender? It's so simple to create a new handle when the urge to post is too high, post whatever crap, get that new handle banned and repeat as often as desired. At the end, there will be no consequences and reinstatement will be granted early anyhow.

Now, the debate could be: what are the ways to have a suspension revoked?

If a permanently banned member is overly obsessed with coming back there is no way Mods can do anything effectively other than wasting their time deleting the multide duplicate handles days in and days out. Too much hasle for a volunteer work. A permanent ban is a permanent ban unless the Mods are worn down by the banned member's obsession to come back.

No, I was just kidding you a bit about being bored. As for the blue board, "NO" there also. ALL of my recent posts that I can remember are about Tony. Frankly, He has turned the discussion section of that board into a place where he and his buds do little more than love themselves. Is that what you want that here? I hope you're kidding. Maybe this isn't the Algonquin round table or a Mensa meeting, but there have at least been some real subjects to discuss here in many areas instead of such stalwart threads like "Elf's Love Letters." As I've said, I have no problem, and I don't think anyone should oppose, the return of anyone who does not recommit the offenses for which they were banned. As for what is funny, when it's a poisonous sort...it's not. As for provocation...you do realize the subject is "Tony" the epitome of provocation.

If Tony did not write those "Love Letters"...LOL...then sign up that guy or girl, because someone is funny than Tony. Actually, now that I consider it, I know two possibilities with that sort of humor who spell and write well...LOL.

But back to the subject, either the mods should more carefully consider their sentences or they should stick to them. When GG got his last ban it was I who suggested it should be no longer than the "summer". Of course who am I? Anyone could see he would be back before "two years". Maybe the mods real purpose was to communicate their seriousness and level of displeasure. But when they go back on their publicly pronounced judgment it diminishes their credibility, whatever their unknown real intent might have been. And if they really meant "two years" at the time, and give that perception to all members, then they should not be surprised at how many question this change. Perhaps they should make their judgments more thoughtfully, after the anger has settled, so members won't be so stunned when they make such severe reversals.

Mods are not paid to do this thankless job and we are not able to influence them.

If Mod 5 did not lift my suspension, I might have posted a review once in a while, but that is it. I felt we needed more quality reviews.

What pisses me off is that this board is a bloody escort review board and most of the threads are about anything but escorts or the sex industry.

Again, this poll is meaningless because it doesn't matter what the collective members think about bans. It is totally up to the Mods to decide how long to ban someone and whether or not to lift a suspension.

If all you said was true then why have you in the past tried to use polls and members votes to reverse decisions against you?????????? And if as you point out this is an escort review board then what gives anyone the right to rail against seeing escorts or the utter futility of seeing them.
