Paraphrazing the great French singer and entertainer Charles Aznavour, I'd like to say the following thing:

Je vous parle d'un temps /Que les moins de vingt ans / Ne peuvent pas connaître… (La Bohème)

Obviously, referring to my clandestine life on Merb as Protagoras, it would be more aprorpriate to write ''que les moins de quarante ans''.

The sex scene have changed a lot in Montreal since my beginning in the late 1970's.
I remember the time when it was easy to pick up nice and clean girls - not doing drugs! - on the streets, especially the one that were working on St.Catherine West between Peel and De La Montagne.
When going out a strip club meant (80%) of the time a torrid and free one night with a dancer (I've banged practically all blacks dancers that were working in Montreal in the first half of the 1980...)

I'm now and aging old man facing an uncertain future.

In the second week of June I had a 12-core prostate biopsy because I had a high serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) level. I know about the shortcomings of PSA test (false positive). Unfortunately more than a monthe later, I received a phone call from my Doc (or more precisely her secretary) telling me than he want to see me at then end of the month of July.

I don't know yet what to expect...but I'm resigned to face the reality even if I shall undergo a prostatectomy. It will probably mean for sure the definite end of my career as a hobbyist...

I hope everything goes well for you Protagoras. To me, I am always haunted by the knowledge that one day the curtain will come down. Yesterday I had the result of the biopsy: it was a false alarm., there is no prostate cancer.

The urologist said that I don't have to worry.

I feel relieved...:smile:

De deux, Je suis vraiment navrée de te lire qui combat une des pires injustices de la vie... Ce n'était qu'un de ces tests d'APS qui donnent de « faux positifs ». Une procédure médicale passant par une abominable (et humiliante) biopsie et cela explique pourquoi cette épreuve est tant décriée par certains médecins.

Bravo pour ta nouvelle orientation en relation d'aide...j'ai œuvré 37 ans dans ce domaine (tout en exerçant une carrière professionnelle dans le milieu universitaire.

Merci Alissa ainsi qu'à tous les autres qui m'ont écrit des mots d'encouragement. Lorsque ton urologue dit que ton taux d'APS est élevé, faut pas nécessairement paniquer.

Scary, but I had some support from a couple of girls who I confided in and they understood. Cause your Alfredo sauce for the few months after the procedure becomes a red clam sauce till it clears.
