Is goon a French word or do they just adopt the English usage of it in this context?
I’d say it’s hockey slang just like saying
‘’Le goon a shooté la puck au net pis le goaler a fait l’arrêt’’
That’s an example of perfect French when it comes to hockey.

Goon is not hockey slang in English. It's a word that is also used for organized crime hit men and those who enforce racketeering enterprises. So it has a broader meaning. I think it came to be used in English for hockey fights because the guys who had those fights seemed to be mainly employed for that purpose. Just like mob goons. The word Enforcer is also used in each of these contexts.

Too many passengers on that team. Dvorak, Anderson, Dach, Newhook, etc. Martin St-Louis’ coaching inexperience is really starting to show now. People are not being held accountable. Kids that could help the team are stranded in Laval, veterans who don’t care & are lazy are still with the big team because of their contract, the goaltending situation is still a mess & their best goalie may actually be playing in Laval. They only have one guy who can score & he may be the laziest player on the team. Other than scoring goals there isn’t anything else he does for this team & his linemates. But it’s ok since the coaching staff let’s the players do whatever they want unless their last name is Xehkaj!

The biggest problem on that team is team defence, something that doesn’t exist. The peewee team i used to coach years ago played better defence than those guys! At least they tried! And a bigger problem is St-Louis’ personality. He’s unable to get angry & show emotion! None a single player on that team is afraid of him or any of his assistants. Why? Because they know that chances they’ll be held accountable for their bad play is almost nil!

You know what? Jessica Campbell is a much better coach than he or any of his assistants are! At least she’d be willing to listen to others for advice & not believe that she’s right about everything!

He makes me miss Dominic Ducharme!

Look…i really like Martin St-Louis as a person. He seems like a really good person. Speaks well, very likeable. He’d be a great motivational speaker. But as an NHL coach? He’s fraudulent! He’s very fortunate that he’s been getting a free pass from the fans & the media since the day he was hired. Something Randy Cunneyworth, Jacaues Martin, Claude Julien & especially Dominic Ducharme didn’t have the privilege of getting. I’m all for rebuilds but this team hasn’t been improving & appears to actually be regressing. Not only has the team itself regressed but so has the coaching staff starting with St-Louis! I doubt the fans want a rebuild like Buffalo which will last 12-15 years! And how long have the Sens been rebuilding? They’ve missed the playoffs for something like ten years!

Pas mal ça que je crois aussi. Pas certain que Hugues va le renvoyer, mais je pense qu'il va démissionner avant la fin de son contrat.
I also don’t think Kent Hughes will ever be able to fire him. They’re too close. It wouldn’t surprise me if Martin St-Louis ends up resigning this season. He doesn’t seem like the type who takes criticism well & may just figure that all this negativity & b.s. isn’t worth it. Plus his wife & family never agreed to move to Mtl with him so eventually it wouldn’t surprise me if he’d rather be baxk home in Connecticut with his family doing other things.
