I just finished season 1 of the Lincoln Lawyer, and it is excellent. The Mexican actor case to play Mickey Haller makes you forget his Spanish accent (while working as a high profile criminal defense attorney) by the 3rd episode. Excellent characters, plot and strong element of mystery right until the very last episode. It was #1 on Netflix in the USA last week for very good reasons.Another TV series based on Michael Connelly novels, "The Lincoln Lawyer", was released on Netflix yesterday. It's based on a different Connelly book than the movie version of Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew McConnaughey was, called "The Brass Verdict". From what I read the Mickey Haller character is now a Latino working in that population of Los Angeles. This waa changed from the books, although in the book it is revealed that he is the half brother of Harry Bosch, and their paths cross in the books, so I am expecting that in series. Has anyone see it yet?
The opening argument by Haller in the murder trial depicted in the series is about as good as an opening argument in court gets, in my opinion.
The problem now is that they have no source material moving forward. Connelly wrote 2 Mickey Haller novels, The Lincoln Lawyer and Brass Verdict, and they used the first on the movie and the second on the TV series. Fortunately, Netflix has Michael Connelly on their staff, as an executive producer, so I am sure he and the writers will come up with ideas for a season 2 which I think seems destined to happen.
