Canada had it’s chance with Turks and Caicos and blew it.
We could be now vacationing in a warm tropical paradise with all the benefits of home instead of flocking to Florida, which I am glad people are rejecting in droves.
I have been to Turks and Caicos twice. It's a wonderful vacation paradise, if your sole interest is a nice pool and laying on a beautiful beach and water sports. However there is not much to do there, unlike in Florida destinations. T&C is the place to go if you want to lay on a beach and tan, sip cocktails by the pool, and snorkel and dive and do nothing else for a week. I can use a vacation like that soon.
Turks and Caicos is the location of where I was propositioned by a male escort the only time in my life. I went to the Club Med there with an attorney friend, who is also single. He went scuba diving for the day. We had a plan to meet at the bar of the resort and then go to dinner. While waiting at the bar, sipping a cocktail and minding my own business, a black man sat down next to me. He was about 6'4" and looked like a younger version of Snoop Doggy Dog. He asked me if I would like company. I asked him what he meant. He then asked me if I wanted to have a good time. I then caught on to what he was doing- offering to suck my cock. I told him politely that I am a straight man. I also told him I was waiting on a friend with whom I had a plan to go to dinner. He was extremely polite, and went on his way.
T&C is actually an English dominion and they drive on the left side of the road. It freaked me out quite a bit. On my first visit there (1999) they had a problem with feral dogs which roamed in packs and were said to be harassing tourists. I saw such a pack of feral dogs on the shuttle ride from the airport to the Club Med. Our guide told us the government had hired contract bounty hunters to kill these feral dogs because they were harassing tourists. I don't know if they are still a problem.
Also at that time the government was dumping garbage in a remote location of the island to keep sharks away from the tourist areas. They have a shark problem and a NY doctor was attacked and killed by a shark the month before my first visit. But the divers love to photograph them from their cages.
Really like it as a do nothing vacation destination. Weather is perfect and it almost never rains.
