Right-wing social media app Parler has been shut down by tech giants Amazon, Apple, Google. Unlikely that Parler can continue to exist w/o showing proof that it’s actively moderating its right-wing extremist nuts. The tech giants used to benefit from this right-wing extremist web traffic but now realize that the toxicity of these crazies is just not worth the extra traffic.

Anyway these right-wing extremists nuts r now homeless & flooding whatever available social media outlets left to them. I expect more corporate clamp downs so maybe the Parler gang can go find a Russia or China based server to host them.

It is in fact very easy to circumvent Google's pathetic roadblocks and install the Parler app on an Android device, I suppose even these mythical "right-wing extremist nuts" will be able to cope with that problem.

The FBI is now involved in investigating the death of Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Reported details are sketchy, but Sicknick apparently engaged protestors, was struck with a fire extinguisher, later returned to his office and collapsed, before being taken to a hospital where the 42 year old, 13 year veteran later died:

Does anyone know how many demonstrators had actually infiltrated the Capitol building? I could not find any reference to that data.
Why do you think news media would have that data? It's clear from videos that more than 30-40 people can be seen on the Capital main floor, but we know from other videos the infiltration was throughout the building including the second floor. LE probably has a more precise head count from security/surveillance videos, but it's not clear to me why they would release that information and, in doing so, limit their own ongoing investigation which might include looking at images or videos on cellphones that have been or will be seized in addition to the building's own security video.

^ Or, alternatively, there may be an entirely different reason not to publish that data. If it is indeed just a few dozen (as seems to be the case), that ominous insurrection might turn out somewhat less than the doctor(s) ordered.

From all the videos I've seen, there is a lot. The Capitol is huge and there were lots of places.

For now the authorities do not want to frighten the population, because with the ease with which the demonstrators entered the Capitol, it seems strange to me.

I was watching live TV, and I was completely disheartened by several Americans who had been influenced by the great orange chef.

Federal law allows 10 years in prison as maximum punishment for such vandalism.

However, it appears as though the order may backfire on the president, resulting in harsh sentences for his supporters that stormed the capitol building on Wednesday.

After all, the capitol building is federal property.

Yes it's funny.

10 years for Trump's supporters.
And for Trump 20 years?

I agree, high-profile politicians aiding and abetting violent rioters must be brought to justice. Starting perhaps with this one:
I think LE needs to stay away from politicizing any charges which are brought. First of all, we have to start with a fundamental proposition which is that those who cause violence at organized protests are not legitimate actors and not legitimate representatives of any political agenda. In the protests in Minneapolis and in DC we have seen criminal and kool aid drinkers behave like criminals and kool aid drinkers, and we cannot have such people disrupting and damaging government buildings, private property, and committing violent assaults on others. This is something all law abiding citizens can agree on. It's very simple proposition: we have laws that protect our government buildings and private property and an attack on them constitutes a very serious violation of the law which is in no way justifiable as a legitimate method of protest.

That being said, the circumstances with Trump seem to be a bit different and bit more over the top as far as inciting protestors to act out, and there is a realistic chance that he will be charged with something after leaving office. I do not believe he should be impeached because at this point it's a colossal waste of time and resources. I think independent counsel should be appointed to investigate the matter and determine if charges should be brought.

This has got to be the ultimate joke, the authorities and the media not wanting to frighten the population.
The media does nothing else except blow everything out of proportion, they are in fact like someone we know and for the past 4 years have been beating the same drum Trump, Trump, Trump.
Both sides like nothing better than to sensationalize everything to score points and they find a more than willing accomplice in the media.
It has become totally pathetic on both sides how slanted their news coverage is, depending which side you listen to both make the other sound like they are the most evil despicable human beings on the planet.
Yes politicians have a huge part to play in the divide in the US today but the corrupt fucked up media of today even more.
It is getting to the point when the Russians and Chinese will have to start learning from the US on how to publish fake news.

I agree with this but a real problem is the media overpublicizes the actions of fringe extremists/zealots, and by doing so glorifies criminal actions and criminal conduct. They have definitely contributed to polarizing the nation. But at this point it's hard to watch agenda driven news and it's for this reason I only get my news from the BBC and everything else I read I take with a grain of salt.

As far as the ease with which demonstrators got into the US Capitol, it ironically has sent a message to all dangerous foreign elements how weak security is at government buildings. It's led to a lot of people losing their jobs already. Possibly it will lead to positive changes. There is a federal investigation into why the LE response was as unprepared as it was. We can all speculate on why that was, but it may have been presumed that because it was not a BLM protest, it was "no problema." This is unfortunately how LE may have been thinking.

The sad thing is they publish totally opposed opinions. How can we judge what are real or fake news ?

A West Virginia state lawmaker resigned Saturday as he faces charges of entering a restricted area of the U.S. Capitol after he livestreamed himself with rioters.
In a letter, Republican Del. Derrick Evans notified Gov. Jim Justice he was stepping down, effective immediately.

Evans, 35, appeared before a federal judge in Huntington, West Virginia, on Friday after being arrested. If convicted, he faces up to a year and a half in federal prison for two misdemeanour charges: entering a restricted area and disorderly conduct.

Well done, Mr. Derrick Evans.
