I always was curious to look at the Dark Web, especially since all i heard about it is that the normal web is just the tip of the iceberg. But i always was too afraid to try it out. I mean i would be curious to check some things, but there some other things i want no part of !!! For exemple im sure some website probably sell some rare and special alchool wich is not legal to do so, and i was always curious to find fight clubs, im sure those exist somewhere, maybe even in the province but are well hidden. On the other side i want NOTHING with illegal porn or murder videos !!! Thats immoral and gross !! So i don't think ill ever even try to look at it. Too dangerous.
There's nothing really dangerous. As to fight clubs and so on, if there are lists, they might as well just be published on the regular web since if you can find them on the dark web, then LE can too. So if they give an address and time, you all can get busted. As to alcohol, you can just order on line from out of the country.
I my opinion, I don't really see the point of the dark web other than to have a place where you can set up a web site where you can do whatever you want between people or groups that know each other and can have the appropriate code words to physically find each other if needed. There would be next to no way to trace you.
As for the reason the makers of the dark web use to justify their work I think that it's just wishful thinking. They are doing it for privacy for "whistle blowers" and for people in countries that do not have free speech.
The problem is you don't need tore for this. You can just get a VPN that is based outside north america like Switzerland and do not keep logs, and then communicate where ever you want with complete anonymity. This is effectively the same as using tore. Problem is if you live somewhere that does not have free speech and internet traffic is monitored, you are on their radar right away by using a VPN or Tor. Encrypted traffic in these countries will raise flags anyways. So the "Dark" web is best used if you want to something illegal. If you really want to be safe, you set up a VPN, use TOR and an operating system that only exists in ram like some linux distros.
It's ironic...40% of the funding in 2012 was by the US Department of Defence (including the NSA). A bunch of hypocrites
