You guys talking about this seems to have a negative effect in my life.

Last night, I had a nightmare dream about catching deadly STI and woke up in the middle of the night.

Most STI are not "deadly" in and of themselves but viral STI can cause cancer. The most common STI is chlamydia which is bacterial and easily cured with a course of Zithromax. The most concerning and potentially "deadly" STI is herpes which is a virus that can cause throat cancer. In fact one of my coworkers who had many women in his life died from throat cancer caused by an STI from eating too much pussy. And he never saw escorts. It was a truly horrible death as cancer spread to his lungs. I saw him the day before he passed and it wasn't pretty. Michael Douglas had the exact same cancer but he got treated and lived. Sometimes it recurs and sometimes not.

In the dream did you have a cancer in your throat? This in fact would be a nightmare and based on what I saw happen to my coworker maybe the worst possible death. You slowly choke to death as cancer takes over lungs.

I am sorry but this is not correct. HPV (human papilloma virus) can lead to throat cancer. The most concerning STI is HIV. No doubt about that.

Guess what, condoms GREATLY reduce the risk of transmission of many STIs!

Congrats man you stated the exact same fact I did. I never denied condoms are safer, all i said is the risks are still there.

HPV is also responsible for cervical and Anal cancers . But most herpes viruses only cause mild to no symptoms for immuno competent people, including HPV. Most women and men have HPV and herpes 1-2 without even knowing. Also condoms do not protect against these viruses effectively like they do with HIV.

You are right this was a brain fart on my part. I meant to say HPV not Herpes. What killed my coworker was HPV not herpes and I am not sure why I made that typo. Brain not fully engaged. As previously noted both are viruses but are very different.

Condoms are supposed to protect against most STIs. HPV and other contact STIs are like 2% chance of getting it from oral or something.

Not sure about that, you might want to read this:

Covered intercourse is, undoubtedly, much safe than uncovered oral sex. Since I am mostly an uncovered mutual oral sex guy for most of my career the last 20 plus years also including girlfriends outside paid sex, I am guessing it's likely I have HPV and also probable that I am at risk for such cancers. I worry if I start coughing for no apparent reason or feel something off in my throat.

By the way, there is a vaccine against HPV (Gardasil) that is now routinely administered to high school students. The vaccine must ideally be given before any sexual contact since it won't work if the person has already been infected with HPV (there are many strains at it is very common). It was initially marketed to prevent cervical cancers in women (which worked: the rates have dropped), but it also works for the prevention of anal, oropharyngeal and other head and neck cancers in men. I myself have gotten the three dose series a few years ago (I am in my early 30's).

That is helpful for the younger crowd, for sure, but for the 50something old farts like me and many others here, it's too late. We unfortunately were not spoiled to have Gardasil, iPhones or Zoom available to us when we were in our 20s and 30s. For us, we have to do what envelopes suggested: pray. Good old fashioned prayer, and run to the doctor if there is a hacking or persistent cough or sore throat.

It's good that you are aware of the risks and being health conscious. Don't worry too much about it, since at this point, this is not something you control. Also, the link between HPV and throat cancer is a relatively recent discovery. So when you were my age, there was no way of knowing. My advice to everyone my age is: limit your number of oral sex partners and get vaccinated against HPV.
