Old fashioned professional photos were "altered". They would retouch them otherwise and they used professional lighting, with filters on the cameras. It's not a bait and switch to have flattering photos.

It's hard to constantly promote yourself and I agree that it's draining and sometimes you don't see the results of your hard work right away, but it will pay off! I'm really excited to see your photoshoot :)
