Im a bit late to the conversation but it's really interesting. I have a question for both clients and providers. If you give a deposit and the SP cancel, you get your deposit back right? (In the case of notable/known SP)? Because I assume that if she's not notable; there's a probably of scam. I work for an agency so Im oblivious to this subject (we dont ask for deposit). Cancellation sucks but if you get your deposit back, you dont actually loose any money so its not that bad right?

Over my years of escorting, Ive had numerous clients that didnt pay me or didnt pay the full amount or wasted my time. I was not lucky at all this summer with time-waster because I got 2 bookings in the past 2 months where they was just messing with me. 2 weeks ago a client booked me for 2 hours in a hotel and he was actually not there. He gave my agency a wrong room number, then made me go to the lobby, then said he was on the street in front of the hotel, then said he was in the lobby etc etc. I wasted 1 hour waiting/looking for him until I gave up. I paid 15$ for parking for nothing and lost all booking-money. My whole night was fucked and I dont work often. He prebook the night before so all the client that contacted my agency before 7pm that day were told I was already booked and only available at 9:30 (all of them wanted to see me earlier) so I didnt make any money and spent my night waiting in my car loll until 11pm when I had my one and only client

Really sorry for what happened to you :(
But yeah cancelations happeqn. With agencies the caveat is that it's rather easy to book and with less constraints on the screening and/or cancelations policies.
I assume those clients were 1st timers and reading your description they kind of wanted to play tricks or they didn't dare to admit they can't make so just made very bad excuses.

I will never know the real reason but at the end of the day it's just money and time; it's far from the worst situations/problems you encounter as a SP. And yes, same thing when a men says that a SP can do what she wants and doesn't care blabla, the client too lol. It can happen on both side. I will never be mad at someone cancelling if its in a reasonable time window (but if its an emergency, I will understand last minute cancellation because its understanding). But in these two cases, they were texting the agency for a whole hour making me believe they were there. This is just mean and disrespectful.

It hasn't Happened too often to me thankfully, but it can very much be a headache when it seems a troll has taken a liking to waisting your time.

I've had it happen in the past, I am sure it was a singular time waister useing an app for #. And I spent an entire day chasing phantom bookings in the past, until I just got so discouraged I gave up and refused any more bookings for that weekend. (Apparently it is also tricks pimps might use to keep other providers running for false bookings, so others are busy, and their girls are the ones available. It was told to me by another SP when we seemed to be at the same address, at the same time, for the same timewaister, but threw different numbers.)

I don't ask for deposits, but after moments like that I fully understand why others do. I'm just not equipped, or really wanting to do deposits. I just pray it doesn't happen again. It can really F someone up. Happened when I was struggling to have enough to buy food for my family, and didn't help to loose 100$ in gas traveling all around, when you're starving to let the food last longer for kids because you don't have enough $ to buy more yet. People don't realize how badly they could be messing you up when they pull stunts like that.

Im so glad that you brought that up because yes it's a thing. I know for a fact that this was the case for a couple of cancellations I had before. I thought my agency was overthinking at first but over the time it made sense. The story I told was not that for sure because the booker was talking on the phone with him but in other cases yes: Hotel room number that doesn't exist, cancel the appointment right after I text my booker I found a parking or even a random address (I knock on a door one time and it was a father with his kids! Not a client at all!) This can be dangerous too. Imagine a psycho random man let us in

Yes. You give it back or apply it to a future booking.

I’ve heard so many ridiculous stories about providers not refunding deposits after canceling their tour.
When clients reached out, one actually said, “Well hello - I announced it on Twitter that I had to cancel… you were supposed to know.”
As if everyone has Twitter or the time to stalk an SP’s every move.
She should have contacted every single client who sent a deposit, explained the situation, and either refunded it or applied it to a future booking.

I'm so sorry you experienced this. I've never had this happen with an outcall, interestingly, but I've had multiple no call no shows and cancellations and had to change my entire schedule to book these gentlemen, so I know how you feel. Waiting in the lobby for an hour sounds really horrible. :(

I don't ask for deposits but I think if it's you who cancels, you probably need to refund it unless you reschedule. However if it's the client who cancels or no call no shows you get to keep the deposit. That's actually the point of a deposit because there are so many cancellations, now that I'm more known as a provider it happens to me a lot less often that I get cancelled on, but in spring of 2024 I got 10 cancellations and no call no shows in 2 weeks. I was shocked honestly..

I'm still considering it because it still does happen that clients are just messing with me and a deposit just cuts through the BS. I often get messages from clients who have no intention of booking, they just want to chat or talk about their fantasies and they don't have any questions to ask or a specific date in mind. It's really draining to answer all of these messages, I know the solution would be to avoid them but I try to be polite and answer everyone.

yes, it happens both ways, where men waste the ladies time and having a deposit would have prevented or mitigated the issue. It also happens frequently enough that guys don't get their deposits back after an SP has pulled out of their session for whatever reason

Honestly there's great reasons for both the guys and the ladies to refuse/insist on deposits, so there's really no right or wrong answer. The ladies of course are going to be heavily pro-deposit in general, and I think that most of the guys here have become culturally adapted to paying deposits too, so for them it's just business as usual. Some guys like me just choose to do what protects them the same as the ladies do. Of course in most mongering destinations if the ladies asked for a deposit they'd get laughed out of town. It all depends on the local customs and practices

I think there's large local cultural biases that control a number of different things within the hobby. MERB is a board outlier too, having a considerably different approach to mongering than other boards do, so we get conditioned to think the way the board groupthink works, but that's not always necessarily an accurate reflection of the greater world at large. Again that's both a good and a bad thing.

At the end of the day if there's no perfect answer you just go with what's good for you/your business and to Hell with what everyone else is doing

Not a lot of steps. You either both agree to another meeting or she returns your cash, in an honest world.

Some ladies will attempt to keep the cash by saying it's "credit against a future booking" instead of returning it, ignoring the fact that the guy may be traveling to Montreal or she might be touring, whatever. That puts an "honest facade" against the fact that you're not getting your cash back, instead if just saying "nope, I'm keeping it". lol. There are, of course, honest ladies who simply refund you too.

Of course, if you don't pay deposits then the issue never comes up. :)

Some SP hire assistants to deal with the bureaucratic aspect of work. I can see how someone who's really popular could get overwhelmed with requests and neglect certain aspects but hiring an assistant would help them. Dealing with inquiries and posting on social media takes up a lot of my time and energy.. Part of the reason why I don't ask for deposits is that I'm paranoid I'll accidentally forget if someone sent it or not.. I don't want to neglect anything

I’ve worked with many providers across Canada, and we all follow the same approach. We ask for payment upfront. It keeps things simple and stress-free for the provider. If a client doesn’t feel comfortable, it’s always best not to book, as it can make the experience awkward for both sides.

Whether the payment is given at the start or the end, the moment can feel the sam. So handling it upfront just lets us both relax and enjoy the time together. I value my reputation and have regular clients I’ve known for years, some who come and go, and I treat everyone new or familiar with the same care and respect.

I’m easy to find online, and I always keep my dealings honest and professional. At the end of the day, lear agreements help make the experience better for both of us.

If the client doesn’t have enough money which it can happen even with upfront payment. It’s better to know before we start. ....

More opportunity of a bad customer some client lie (name, first time seing provider, age, burn phone, text app)

Instead of customer who can make a research and see the reputation of the provider, majorité of time the client dont have any references.

Extra paid upfront & tip at the end.

I've only been hobbying a bit over a year, seen maybe 10-12 providers in that time— in every case I've paid upfront, but there was only one where I almost didn't, and that was the Legendary Berry who is famous for her unrelenting attack that begins at the door, and only collecting the cash from the remains of your spongy and bruised body when all is said and done.
