I miss the first few years (2001 - 2003) as I discovered the Montreal hobby scene in 2003 then took the plunge in 2004. For me was when the HDH scene was going strong in full swing. Once this market went away the hobby slowly started to lose its appeal. 2004 to 2010.

Here are 2 well-known reminders of the golden era of hobbying in Montreal. Relics of the past, one is still open, the other long gone.

The Lodeo and Cleopatra's

Clearly the best era ever for hobbying in the city is now! There is so much selection, its impossible to personally get a feel for all thats available. Massage parlours were not even really a thing when I started. Now there is like 50 of them!
Not to mention all what the internet brings, the agency's quality websites and advertizements, amazing independants and their sites - sometimes accompanied by OF content; and even tons of sites like LL (meh maybe not LL lol).
And we even have the priviledge of having the likes of some great providers interacting with the clients openly on our forum (I don't need to name them of course, but I will anyways @LC18, @Lunaseraphim , @ChloeCoeur, @Julia Sky and others that I cant think of atm).

I mean, really, what era can compete with all that?

I'll name few other names like @Rebaynia , @Giselle Montreal , @Michelle Gunn :)

Depending of when one has started, the answer will vary.

I prefer to take the stance that the best era is now as we are trying to enjoy the present moment as much as we can!

Most people's fondest and sometimes most exciting memories come from when they entered into the hobby, and their views are coloured by their rear view nostalgia glasses, their relative lack of experience, and their relative lack of cynicism. No experienced monger ever thinks that "now" is the best time because over time some of the novelty and excitement wears off, as do the expectations of "romance" while at the same time awareness and suspicion grow. I don't think anyone looking from any kind of objective standpoint would say that now is the best time for hobbying ever, but possibly few will agree on when exactly that sweet spot was in the past. Some of it will have to do with when an individuals favorites were in the game, or some will have to do with the way in which they found company or where. Most old guys won't say that now is their best time either, because they understandably preferred the exploits of younger days. It's also a series of different worlds that have evolved over time. There was probably a space in there somewhere between when the internet supplanted streetwalking but before it evolved to the point where it eroded the hobby that was objectively the best spot. The "when" also depends somewhat on the "where" as far as timing goes. All of this drivel to say that basically "the best time" was simply the time in your life when it all worked the best for you. People who never experienced earlier days will never miss them, so no need to worry about it. Sucks to be them though! lol.
