He changed his tone today.

It took a very long time but slow brain Trump finally acknoledged that Putin is crazy !
Other country leaders knew that for a very long time !
His promise to end the war in one day was perhaps his100 000 lies !

summer offensive will start soon, as the weather is more adequate to invasions

I don't see any peace deal before at least one battle; if Ukraine can withstand the pressure and blunt the Russian assault then maybe peace will come

European NATO members are OK with UKRAINE joining NATO.
Putin and Trump reject it.
Putin I understand, but TRUMP why ? Political or personal raisons ?
There are already countries Russia neighbours that are NATO members if I'm not wrong.

  • Security Concerns and Potential for Escalation:
Russia views NATO expansion as a threat, believing it undermines its security and could lead to a military confrontation. The prospect of Ukraine joining NATO is seen as a violation of promises made during the end of the Cold War regarding NATO expansion eastward, according to some sources.

  • Costs and Risks:
Defending Ukraine, a NATO member, would place a significant burden on the alliance, particularly the United States, which already faces substantial costs associated with the ongoing war in Ukraine. Furthermore, some argue that Ukraine's security does not directly affect the security of NATO members, making the risks outweigh the benefits.

  • Ukraine's Democratic Stability:
While Ukraine has made strides in democratization, some argue that it still faces challenges in terms of corruption, political instability, and adherence to democratic norms, making it less than ideal for NATO membership.

  • NATO's Internal Divisions:
Even within NATO, there are differing views on whether to admit Ukraine, with some countries, like Germany, being more cautious about potentially escalating tensions with Russia.

  • Russian Aggression:
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has exacerbated the issue, with Russia citing Ukraine's desire to join NATO as a justification for its actions.
Joinder with NATO would justify and enable Putin, enabling him to scream, "I told you so!"

Russia agreed in the 1990s that sovereign countries could choose their alliances. No formal treaty bars NATO expansion. This is a Kremlin propaganda claim. Ukraine wanted NATO because Russia invaded Crimea in 2014. Not the other way around. It’s not aggression to seek allies when you’ve been attacked. Every sovereign nation has the right to choose its alliances, especially after being lied to and invaded repeatedly. Perhaps you would prefer the US exit NATO and join BRICS instead?

  • Costs and Risks:
Defending Ukraine, a NATO member, would place a significant burden on the alliance, particularly the United States, which already faces substantial costs associated with the ongoing war in Ukraine. Furthermore, some argue that Ukraine's security does not directly affect the security of NATO members, making the risks outweigh the benefits.

Supporting Ukraine now helps avoid a bigger war later or at least delays it. Their defense directly protects NATO by keeping Russian aggression in check. Its also a great source of military intelligence. This isn’t poking the bear, the bear already attacked and it’s got rabies. It needs to be put down.
Russia has openly said they want to see the US fall, do you think that's changed? Do you really see Russia as the good guy? Standing by and doing nothing isn’t an option. As an american are you really defending a country that literally put bounties on US soldiers ?

  • Ukraine's Democratic Stability:
While Ukraine has made strides in democratization, some argue that it still faces challenges in terms of corruption, political instability, and adherence to democratic norms, making it less than ideal for NATO membership.

Imagine the U.S. judging corruption, especially under this current administration. Ukraine’s under invasion and still passed anti-corruption reforms. It’s not perfect, but it’s progressing under fire, but perhaps they have more important things going on?

  • NATO's Internal Divisions:
Even within NATO, there are differing views on whether to admit Ukraine, with some countries, like Germany, being more cautious about potentially escalating tensions with Russia.

Most of the pushback comes from countries historically cozy with Russia or economically tied. NATO is a democratic process and still showing support to Ukraine.

Guess that makes me an ungrateful, leeching Canadian eh?

North Korea is sending up to 30 000 troops to Russia to fight Ukraine and Trump is reducing or stopping providing defense equipment to Ukraine.
It seems that world dictators are combining their forces to ensure That their best friend Putin win the war in short time.

I will never understand why the rest of Europe doesn’t engage and force Russia back where they belong.
Russia is no match for a combined Europe.
Eventually it will have to come to that.

Maybe that is what Europe should have been doing from day one rather than sit back, kick their legs up on the coffee table and watch with a bag of popcorn, while the USA supplied Ukraine with weapons and advisers. This is Europe's preferred activity- sit back and watch and snack on popcorn while the USA does the dirty work and heavy lifting. A tradition since WWII. Allow the USA to be the unpaid police force.

Nah the USA doesn’t do anything that doesn’t line their pockets so don’t make them out to be the world’s saviour.
Many people in the US made billions getting rid of old crap weapons and having tax payers pay for new replacements.
The US only meddles where their interests are met and that usually equates into $$$$.

This is very evident with the present administration, not only in Ukraine but don't forget Greenland who is supposed to have rare earth ressources.
The mostly false motive to get Greenland being USSA safety.
USA already has military bases in Greenland.
I don't remember USA wanting possession of Greenland before.

Na your judgement as usual is clouded by your perpetual hatred of one party and especially its leader.
The US has always meddled in other countries affairs regardless of who and which party was in power.
This is what politicians do and it is not restricted just to the US. Russia, China, the UK and probably every other country that has the means also.

It is all about power and $$$$ and the people behind them pulling the strings to serve their interests.

I don't remember being really against one party (the Republican) although they were the most pro NRA I think, thanks to the $$$ they received.
Remember too that Mitch McConnell blocked Obama from naming a Sppreme Court judge. After the Second Trump Impeachment, he should have got USA rid of that fool.
Him and Lindsey Graham were among the worst ass liquers at the time.
I don't need to write about Trump, plenty have been said about the orange clown !

Russia wants to swallow all the Ukraine and nothing less. If this is allowed to happen, Russian army will be multiplied by the battle hardened Ukrainian soldiers together with a lot of the western made equipment. This colossal machine would roll through Europe practically unopposed, and it would find itself under the Russian rule once again. Probably decadent Europe does not mind and will leak Russian boot with pleasure.

Na I doubt Europe would allow that. They remember all too well what Russian rule is like especially the iron curtain countries.
East Germany ( now combined Germany) would never stand for that again.
Russia is no match for a combined Europe, look how long Ukraine has been holding them at bay, a combined Europe easily outguns Russia in every way.

The stable genius (genie d'étable LOLL) realised that Putin doesn't give a shit to what Trump want to negotiate with him about Ukraine. They talked face to face for one hour and Putin told him : go play golf, you're only good for that !
