48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

no need to quote the rule book... it was a dirty hit. Then again, we could always use a Chara-type explanation and say Rome thought Horton was looking his way and knew a hit was coming in the middle of the ice, especially as Horton was crossing the opponent's well guarded Blueline.

Horton should have been looking to his right, but Rome knew he wasn't, so it was a dirty hit. I said Yes. Both players are out for the rest of the series, Horton severely concussed, Rome suspended.

By present rules it's a dirty hit and Rome should be suspended. (don't think he will though)

Each of these hits were as bad as Rome's yet all considered legal checks at the time. :noidea:

Yep, but by Advantage Vancouver i meant that Horton is much more valuable to his team than Rome is to his.
