Montréal is great foodie destination but as for pretzels, well, maybe not so much. I once tried it at the Bier Markt place (on René Lévesque) and it was horrible, one of the worst I ever had. If you got a serious pretzel craving, I would probably suggest Munich.

I think Décarie Hot Dogs is usually considered the place in Montréal, although I haven't had a chance to sample it recently. Lester's is reasonable too, but it is more famous for smoked meat, so only tried a hot dog once there.
