Montreal is definitely better as a scene. But the thing about Toronto is that you will have more opportunity to try out Asian and even East Indian SPs which are more rare in Montreal. So if you want to try something different, then T.O. has it.

I have used the Econolodge at the airport twice and found it to be reasonable in price and SP friendly. Free breakfast and parking plus internet in lobby. Would recommend if you don't need luxury but just comfort for a good price.
