Tortorella on Marty St. Louis:
Getting outshot 26-12 is not really what you want. I don't understand why Montreal has been getting severely outshot in these playoffs and why they only put 12 shots on Freddy Anderson, who is not a great goalie.
Winning opportunistically is great, but I think it has a shelf life. In Montreal they need to generate more shots on goal and take 2 games.
When you see shots are 26-12 and 38-13 in 2 straight games, there is a problem. Montreal's strength as a team is speed, but the opposite of speed is strength. In almost every sport there are tradeoffs between speed and strength and the trick is to find the ideal combination of both.Am I the only one that find the HABS a the small and light team ?
In the regular season it can work but in the séries it seems to doesn't.
What Caufield achieve in the series ? Not much. The Habs defencemen are surely the lightests in the league. The heaviest and toughest isn't even on the ice.
The other teams players don't fear at all to assault Dobes without consequences !
Hockey is a business, analagous to a sports corporation, and the teams are franchises. Just like some McDonald's franchises do better than others, and sell more burgers and shakes, so too does this economic competition take place in hockey. The Canadian franchises just have not done as well. The American teams are better managed, and have the ability to attract free agents that some Canadian teams do not have because of the very high taxation in Canada, which that turns off these rich players who do not want to share their income with the government.Professional hockey in Canada is well and truly dead, because they managed to sell it to the United States.
I wasn't ecpecting they would go that far. And was caught by the spring fever !Hockey is a business, analagous to a sports corporation, and the teams are franchises. I do think that Montreal has a good young team, however, (1) their time has not come yet; (2) I think they need to add a free agent veteran or two for leadership purposes; and (3) they need to bring in a bit more size.
If I had paid to watch that game, I would’ve asked for my money back.
Sad sad sad, I cant imagine the hard mascarade he had to put up at the Bell Center for the ceremony and meeting all his old buddies while suffering deep inside. May he rest in peace.Sadly, Claude Lemieux committed suicide.

Claude Lemieux’s death revealed as suicide — just days after carrying torch at Eastern Conference finals: report
The NHL Alumni Association announced the four-time Stanley Cup-winning forward’s death on Thursday.nypost.com
We still don’t know what circumstances led to his suicide. Maybe we never will find out what was going through his head. I’ve been involved with cases where it was a quick, last minute decision. A friend of mine who committed suicide wrote in his goodbye letter that it had taken him less than 48 hrs to make up his mind. Another one decided to blow his brains out after learning he had terminal cancer a day earlier. People even tried to talk him out of it minutes earlier but he had made up his mind. He didn’t even leave a letter. What i’m saying is that every circumstance is usually different. In Lemieux’ case i could only speculate but it wouldn’t surprise me if we later found out that he was suffering from CTE, which is often seen in deceased athletes who played violent sports where concussions from physical contact happen. It’s actually suprising that there aren’t more boxers or mma fighters committing suicide. I myself boxed at the amateur level during my teens & i retired from boxing because i got tired of the constant headaches from punches to the head. I even fought several times with these headaches. I also suffered even more serious blows to the head (one nearly killed me) many years ago. I was a walking zombie with a huge headache for a few weeks. It wouldn’t surprise me if i don’t already suffer from cte myself, to be honest. I’ll never really find out.Sad sad sad, I cant imagine the hard mascarade he had to put up at the Bell Center for the ceremony and meeting all his old buddies while suffering deep inside. I got 2 sévère concussions back to back within 10 days, I suffered at different levels for 2 the 2 years following. I still feel like I never gained back the same energy level.many years ago. I was a walking zombie with a huge headache for a few weeks
Let see if Hugues manage to sign some interesting players this summer. There is no garantee because the UFA market is very bad this year. The Habs are not very lucky because they had high first round picks in years where there was not much to choose from. I think we will still have to wait 2 more seasons before we get to see the real shape of this team.Coming back to the series, the HABS will not win the Stanley Cup with as many players with Midget size and weight players.
If you compare the height and weight of Caroline players with that of HABS players, for me that partly explain the loss.
Caroline System of play is well applied by their players.
Also, Saint-Louis kept the same line- up respire the losses. He chose light defencemen against heavy Caroline players. His heaviest defenceman (Dobson) isn't known for ils physical play.
Look at the 2 teams that will play in final for the Cup.
The Habs did look undersized but other than Josh Anderson their own big guys played small. I’m referring to Kirby Dach, among a few others. And if the coach felt size was an issue why didn’t he dress one of his bigger & most physical players in Arber Xejaj? The way i see it the Habs were totally out of gas from playing two consecutive 7-game series while the other team had two weeks off & all their players fully rested & healthy. The Habs were drained & it seems like half the team were dealing with injuries. Dobes was by far their best player!Coming back to the series, the HABS will not win the Stanley Cup with as many players with Midget size and weight players.
