I'm an occasional visitor to Montreal and each time I'm just overwhelmed with the amazing array of opprtunities to meet beautiful and talented SPs.
If you look at all the independents, agencies and massage studios there are hundreds if not thousands of providers. That's impressive even if you consider that many are part-time and not everyone gets booked.
What's more incredible is that it seems a large percentage of these ladies are local to Montreal and Quebec. That means the money you spend is being pumped back into the local economy. In the US cities I'm familiar with it's mostly touring girls so that money disappears.
I believe this is a significant contributor to the local economy, and wonder if any economists have looked at it.
Don't read anything negative into this post. I think it's part of what makes Montreal special and (possibly) shows this activity is more socially acceptable than in other places.

Well.. in most of the US cities I know the choice is less, and a lot of the girls are touring or on short stays from places like Brazil or Japan (there used to be more from Eastern Europe).. or girls that spend 2-3 days in each city and go back to Texas or Florida

I see lot of ladies who live in Vegas, Scottsdale, NYC, Miami, Florida and not just touring. But for sure they tour a lot.

I would say it's more that touring within Canada is more economically difficult because of operational cost (looking at expensive air plane ticket). Whereas as in the US it's cheaper to fly around than Canada.

Asian massage parlors skew that though. There are many of them throughout Quebec and they are staffed by people who travel around.

This used to be the case, but the rapidly climbing cost of plane tickets, along with expensive hotels in major cities (NYC, Vegas, Los Angeles, etc.) touring isn't as profitable unless the provider has a following. That isn't me assuming, but I've heard that from a few SP's that the cost of traveling slows down their tour plans.

Just for consideration:

Well-known Canadian providers heavily advertised their tour of the US on escort sites and social media sights like OnlyFools and X'ed because of the more favorable exchange rate and the overall higher rate for "companionship" due to it being illegal in some form or another in all 50 US States. (For those of you old enough to remember US - Canadian politics during Prohibition, there was a reason why most of the whisky legally distilled in Canada was smuggled across the border into the US - it was that profitable.)

Upon re-entering Canada, they answered the re-entry questions, "Visiting friends" and "No, I'm not bringing more than $xx,xxx.xx USD into the country from the US" (lied). At that point they were arrested, searched, and the large amount of USD cash was discovered and they were charged for smuggling (not declaring lawfully), the cash was confiscated, and they were also charged for not paying their taxes on their non-disclosed earnings.

Being true capitalists at heart, the enterprising young ladies immediately planned a return trip to the US to recover their seized funds and to pay off their taxes. They were stopped at US Customs and barred from entering the US for a period of 10 YEARS and were shown screen shots from their previous pre-tour promotions.

Things hobby related are much better in Canada. In the State where I reside, if I make an offer of money in exchange for sex, I can be charged with a felony (serious crime).

yes the US is a retrograde country unfortunately, not up to the standard of real liberal democracies like canada, europe and some parts of asia (and a few others). I suspect the pendulum is going to sway back in the other direction in the US, but I have said that before and have been wrong before.

But are you citing specific examples of girls being barred from entering the country based on suspicions of engaging in sex-work or is this a 'general' kinda post?
I know of a sex worker who regularly travels from Montreal to the San-Diego area for sexwork and I warned her to be careful, especially these days.

I agree with your OP. sexwork is definitely a contributor to the local economy in Montreal, also bringing in tourists. Not sure what percentage that would be though, probably still a very small fraction of a fraction.
