Latest census of gonorrhea has noted an increase year on year: Rapid propagation of gonorrhea

Infection was the most for men whereas spread women were the most affected for the last 4 years.

Apart from the sensational headline it's also a long term trend. It is still informative and affect also the industry.

Let's get regularly tested ...

ORL here. Since the pandemic i've been having more patients coming in for a bad case what they suspect is a strep throat but it ends up being a sexually transmitted infection. It's getting bad..

Is the distribution male/female in line with what the article quotes?

But seems it might be a consequence of pandemic 's confinement...

Could also be linked to the massive influx of asylum claimants that have arrived in Quebec and Montreal more specifically during that time frame. Often from countries where STIs are a lot more prevalent and access to contraception a challenge.

The assumption here is more on the people behavior that leads to the STI increase.

After confinement and fewer sexual partners during the restrictions, a rebound or “compensatory” increase in partner numbers and social/sexual contact has been observed as well as increase of dating and sexual networking apps usage.

But I agree this alone is not enough for the STI increase. It needs to be paired up with less consistent condom use and more oral/anal sex (which may transmit gonorrhea more readily than some assume).
