Canadian sex workers touring the US - maybe not a good time to be doing that

So the girl I wrote about in post #1 last year has had a recent very bad experience. She would often travel to the US for sex work with a friend sex worker. I don't have all the details of the story but that friend recently "got caught" at the border when her story about her destination was deemed not credible. She had her phone searched and they detained her, and then barred her from entering the US.

The girl in post #1 I was talking about was in the pictures on the phone of the friend, so when she tried to enter the US, somehow she was recognized as the girl in the picts of the other girl (if you are to beleive the story), and she was also detained, and accused of illegally entering the country for sex work as the friend was.

From what I understood in our short conversation, she has been barred from the US and she said she has to go to Lacolle (I guess she meant Champain) border crossing in a couple of weeks to give extra documents to prove she was not trying to enter the US to do illegal sex work. But what I did not understand was is that to allow her to go back in the country or to not have charges laid against her?
Man i would not want to go back to a US border crossing to prove my innocence, sounds like she is really f***. I told her to consult a lawyer before going.

Either way, this is a cautionary tale.

It boggles the mind as to why one would take this kind of risk in 2026! This is reckless (and I am weighing my words). It's not like there are not enough clients in Canada! Unreal!

And regarding the story with the picture in the phone, you can imagine what type of technology (AI, facial recognition, etc. google "palantir") that they have at their disposal nowadays. I have seen similar accouts on social media. The story is plausible.

There are probably enough men living on my street to make a living of for the entire year. Thing is, probably zero of them are my client or will ever be. Our market doesn't work like this, and is changing depending on marketing and rates. The pool of clients in Montreal is actually smaller than you think. I understand why someone would want to discover an entirely new market, that also pays better than anywhere in Canada.

How would any border customs officer know if a woman is working as an escort if she does not do a lot of back-and-forth travel and is never caught with too much cash?

Not just in the US, but also in other countries.

Phone search? Online profile?
Obviously if a well known profile as Indy, it would be easier, but some low profile, used to work at agency let’s say I would wonder if they succeeded to find out

It's a soft skill: Profiling and most of the times intuition.
Border control being usually "mean" is a way to shake people who are stressed about crossing the border.

Has anyone visited the USA recently? I heard the border is too hot right now, they detained one of my friends for 4 hours. I don't think they want to see Canadian people anymore. I don't know why all Canadian girls want to take a risk and do the escort service in usa.

What was the reason to be detained?

If she has posted a picture on social media say on X with even part of her face on an ad, theres very sophisticated software interfacing with AI that can scan your face (everyone entering the US gets a biometric face scan, pretty sure its also true for Canada and EU) and tie it to those posts...most likely even if its deleted as theres an archive somewhere.

Or Facebook or IG pictures with other people who are banned.
dude its 2026 :( they got us plebs by our necks

Why visit the US at all. There are much nicer places to see and discover all over the world.
I took my winter vacation in Punta Cana and the summer one in Europe. I will not set foot in the US while the insane tariff king is in command.
I have told my relatives that for the next couple of years they will have to come to Canada if they want to see me as I won’t be going to the US to see them.

Probably not. I don’t consider the other side any better. The good news is that there is a whole big world and many countries out there to be discovered, I have already seen and visited many in my lifetime but would need at least 100 more to see half of what I would like to see.
I have seen much of the US already so it is not such a big attraction for me, more an irritant that I have many relatives there who I care about.

I do think the USA can become normal again once the lunatic is gone from Presidency IF his successor ain't voted in as well.

I can't see the US going for another round of this crap.

The Dems must NOT screw this up. They need an A+ candidate. Not someone seeking minorities or such. Someone that can rally the majority of normal Americans.

The "good news" is im sure lots of citizens regret voting the orange turd in. They likely expected something like the first mandate. Not the sh1tshow that is happening now.

Trump or not I would not go to the US. The government is very prudish. It has one of the most hostile environment for sex work. There are far better places to visit then the US like Europe and even Australia.

Still this "ICE" insanity was unhearded off before Trump. This "witchhunt" is all him. Australia is super open to sexwork but its not exactly 6h away...

Europe sure but the competition is so strong...

Plus the idea seem to get better rates than Canada. Only in the US you get these. Europe rates are not it.

Australia and UK rates are high similar to US rates. Check it out yourself and you do not have to worry about LE.

You are right,
I would never see a provider in the US.
I grew up as a child in Australia, fabulous country and amazingly friendly people, so far from the rest of the world though.
I was born in Europe and have seen much of it and have many relatives both on my side and my deceased wife’s side. I will never be able to see everything I want to see. Just came back from a family cruise in the Mediterranean. Still wearing my Game of Thrones t shirt from Dubrovnik where it was filmed.
The US is a close getaway in the winter where it is very similar to home as far as language stores food etc… but you can just as easily go to Mexico or anywhere in the Caribbean.
